Brings Me to My Knees

Verse 1
As He carried the cross up Golgotha Hill
Scorned, spit upon and bleeding
Had the mocking people known him
Would they've been weeping and grieving?
Didn't the crowd know
When they shouted crucify
The cross He would bear
Should have been theirs and mine
Bearing our sins, bearing our disgrace
He stood condemned in our place
And it brings me to my knees

Chorus 1
I could never repay the debt
Saved while wretched yet
An undeserving sinner
Forgiven and redeemed
For I sinned, but He paid the cost
An innocent man on the cross
And it brings me to my knees
And it brings me to my knees

Verse 2
A greater love has no one
Than He who lays down his life for his friends
Almighty God's only begotten Son
Showed us a love that would transcend
Didn't they know
When they rolled the stone away
All they would find
Was an empty grave
For He rose again, for us he defeated death
I will give Him praise, with my dying breath
And it brings me to my knees

Chorus 2
Though I stumbled and fell
He would not leave my soul to hell
An undeserving sinner
Forgiven and redeemed
For I sinned, but He paid the cost
An innocent man on the cross
And it brings me to my knees
And it brings me to my knees

Break

Chorus 3
Even while still wretched
I was still accepted
An undeserving sinner
Forgiven and redeemed
For I sinned, but He paid the cost
An innocent man on the cross
And it brings me to my knees
And it brings me to my knees

And it brings me to my knees

Man you have a great voice. First I thought of Tom Waites, then Springsteen, then Bon Jovi. Great song. Hope it gets picked up by a big name singer who records it.

Wow - I love this song and I'm not even remotely religous. That voice of yours is impressive to the max . I can only assume that you have been/are a professional singer ? Could I borrow you to sing my songs lol
Could you do a remix and swap places with the drums? i.e. Put the drums at the back of the band and bring yourself to the front.

Very cool vocal. Excellent lyric. Just loved your backtrack and such a clear mix. Well done.

Hi walletss,

Thanks for the kind words. I have nothing, but what God has graciously given me.

This might sound rather odd to most people, but I have no aspirations of becoming famous or making money selling my music/songs to some big record exec.

I would be much happier if my music reaches someone in order to bring them closer to the Lord.

Take care and thanks for listening.

Hi Gary,

No I am not a professional. But, I am signed with Jagihlir studios (Just a Guy in His Living Room) LOL.

I'll see what I can do to remix the drums when I get the chance. Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for taking the time to listen. I truly appreciate you listening and commenting on my songs. To be honest, I had a difficult time mixing this. I had to stand +4 feet away from the mic for most of it because I kept "red-lining" the monitor in Real Band. And by doing this, I think that it caused some latency problems with syncing the voice in the right place in the music. I had to shave a few fractions of a second off in a few places to get it to match up. I'm probably not the only one to say this, but I really would have liked to have spent a little more time on this song getting things right.

Despite the material, I got a strong MeatLoaf/Jim Steinman collab feel from this. Great work, very strong vocal, really enjoyed it!

Really good work Bawb!! I agree with everyone extolling the virtues of your vocals...they are fantastic! The Meatloaf comparison is certainly valid! What a great song and message! Keep up the great work! Thanks, T

TuneMonger,
I never thought of Mr. Loaf as an influence while I was singing this, but I can hear a faint resemblance in a few places. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for commenting.

BTW, I be on the look-out for more of your tunes on here!

Wow, that is a heckuva vocal performance!

Regardless of the recording issues you alluded to it sounds
really good on our monitors.

Being fans of a lot of gospel music genres and sub genres it's always cool to hear the message delivered in a genre that is far from what is typically considered gospel.

Well done!

Bawb,

Not my genre, but that doesn’t keep me from admiring the artistry on this. As others have noted a terrific vocal. From a production standpoint it doesn’t quite sit in the mix as well as I would have liked, though I’m not sure why . . . maybe it just needs to come up front a bit more. Tunemonger has the right of it . . . a very Steinman feel to this. Really well done!

All my best,

Deej

Very passionate song and performance!! The vocal sounds like it was recorded from a distance which makes the processing of the signal harder to control. Really great song an performance!! Take care. Greg
