Here is the scenario.

I have created 4 songs each with about 24 measures of music using various major chords. I use these for note reading/playing practice on the bass. Songs 1 is for the E string, 2 for the A string, 3 for the D string and 4 for the G string of the bass. I want to now combine the 4 separate songs into 1 long song of 96 measures so that I can now play the resulting practice song utilizing all 4 strings of the bass at once. I set the preferences to allow multiple instances of BIAB and tried to copy and paste from one open instance to the other but that does now work.

Is there a way to do this without retyping all the chords into a new song.
A couple of thoughts occurred to me as I read through your scenario...

1. Rather than 'Open' each song separately, have you tried "File | Import | Import MGU song". This will add the new song at the end of the song that's presently loaded. Using this, it would be possible to compile the four songs into a single song file.

2. Also under the "File | Import", there's an option to create a medley. This will allow you to use Medley Maker to prepare songs 1, 2, 3, 4 so that each subsequent song will load after the previous one has finished.

Hope this helps,
Noel

Noel:

Option #1 worked perfectly. I was hesitant to try that since the menu called for importing MGU songs and all of the ones I created were non-melody songs (SGU). I guess it will work for any type. To make it simple I started with a blank new song with 1 chorus with the beginning and end both on the 1st measure.

Option #2 (Make Medley) also worked fine. Just have to make sure the total of all the imported measures does not exceed the limit of 255.
Excellent!
