reason.
sometimes i recommend folks try PTW, and they ask me why the 48 trak limit
when some other software doesnt have this limit.
obviously in the past with slower pc's a lot couldnt handle 48 anyway.
so this limit was reasonable.
but now that we are moving into an era of ever more processor cores n
better performing drives etc i suggest ptw be opened up to at least 96.
or even unlimited.
i dont use 48 most times on songs.
but many people i know feel they have the need.

I have a hard time thinking of even 24 tracks for a song.

I imagine those who track bands for a living might use more but then most of those are not going to use PTW, they are Sonar, or ProTools, or something like that. PTW seems to me to be aimed at the home recording nut

I would also like to see the limit raised, either to 96 or 192.
I agree with Robh in that I seldom ever use even 24 but I recently ran into the 48 track limit.
I was creating a medley of several songs.
I pulled in the MIDI files for them and kept them all on separate tracks.
I had half a dozen songs tied together, and the total tracks exceeded 48.
I ended up trying to sort out which tracks I could merge together or get rid of altogether.

No reason to have hard coded limit anymore, the computer itself actually dicates track limit.

So I'm agreed with manning's point on this one, it is a perceived limitation on the part of potential customers, really, but should be an easy to implement selling point.
