I've met situations where I need to highlight a part of audio and duplicate it, but I have to click the starting bar line myself to the right position,which is definitly unreasonable! Even through zooming there can always be margins, which may make all things messed up!
So, I strongly suggest that there should be a function that by assigning the starting and ending bar lines you can highlight the part of audio exactly between them, and things will become a lot easier.

I can see how such an added feature would produce another way to deliver the same functionality.

Can't you just use the "Snap" button on the menu bar right above the bar numbers area?
When I hover over that button, I get this

"Enable this to snap to the nearest beat when selecting a region of audio."

When you click the button, it turns dark grey so you know it's enabled.
Am I missing something in the original question?
