There are some great bass styles already but most stay in the background. How about more soulful styles like Van Morrison's Into The Mystic, or anything that Duck Dunn played. Paul McCartney is a great example of melodic bass playing, anything on Sgt. Pepper. A melodic bass part can add so much to a simple rhythm.

Well, if we're talking bass players, there is none greater than the man pictured at left.
