It seems that expand/reduce duration operates only on the whole song. There have been a number of times when it would have been useful to expand or reduce only a selected range of bars. Would it be possible to add this feature?

This command can surprise you if you have just highlighted a range of measures, thinking that Edit, Reduce Durations will apply just to those highlighted measures. It should, but does not; as the OP said, the command applies to the whole song.
And of course, Edit, Expand Durations - same thing.

I've been asking for years to change the way 'Apply to the whole song' commands to 'Apply to part of song and specify the range of bars' everywhere it can be applied in BIAB : for example the embellisher feature, Adjust level of melody, timeshift of melody, ....
In fact, we need the possibility to change what can be changed where we want inside the song, and not necessarely for the whole song. We are making music and music is subtility. So we need sublte tools.
