Add a fade-in at the beginning of a song and a fade-out at the end of a song.

JeasyWeaver,

I have already requested this feature on 03/19/2016. See following link.

Need Fade-In feature in BIAB You can see that Peter Gannon himself said it was a good idea. And really it is !

We do have a Fade-Out feature in BIAB but Fade-In is really missing for live situations but not only.
It would be convenient for New Age tunes, techno, celtic and many other styles.

Furthermore in another domain, all the modern arrangers (H/W or S/W versions) have this feature. It is a must because it is a musical effect that can be used to get a more professionnal arrangement.

Presently we have the Fade-Out, it looks logical to get the Fade-In !

Anyway, +1

I don't use BIAB to play live so I may be misunderstanding your request but I Fade in and Fade out songs with BIAB. I also lower instruments through, for want of a better word, automation and raise another instrument to play a solo when using BIAB.

One can automate volume changes up and down in the Bar settings (F5) on a per instrument basis or all instruments.

According to the style and also the effect you want as well as how many bars you want the instruments to either raise or lower in volume, you may have to play with the numbers a bit.

Here are the steps to a song I just tried the method on to do a Fade in from the beginning of a song. In this instance, the song is not completely faded out at Bar 1 but adding a 2 bar intro prior to Bar 1 would allow a complete fade in from no sound. To do a 4 Bar Fade In:

1. At Bar 1 - Click the All Instruments button/Change By -40 and OK out.
2. At Bar 2 - Click the All Instruments button/Louder per bar 8 and OK out.
3. At Bar 5 - Click the All Instruments button/Back to normal and OK out to stop and complete the fade in

Charlie

(EDIT) - I just read the other thread referenced above about an earlier request for Fade In and Dr. Gannon remarked it was a good idea. I may have discovered a 'hidden' feature of BIAB..... ;=)

Also want to note you can reverse this procedure to do a Fade out over the course of any number of bars you want.

Charlie, your workaround is interesting, but a workaround is a workaround.
I'am pretty sure you understand we only request a Fade-In feature integrated inside BIAB on the same way as the Fade-Out we already have :
Something like 'Fadein first # bars = n', and we have only to enter the n value as a user choice.

Yes, I do understand that may be a benefit and do not intend for my remarks to be interpreted to be against a Fade In Feature similar to the Fade Out Feature presently in the program.

Reading through both threads, there is no mention of a work around or Fade In Feature and my remarks were directed toward those who think they have to move their work to a DAW in order to accomplish a Fade In. Or, in a live situation, think there is no Fade In available. Just letting them know there is a way and provide the basics for them to use it to meet their needs.

Plus One from me for the feature.

You should be able to use the free Blue Cat's Gain Suite Win/Mac loaded into the Combo vst slot,
in a midi track you can load Insert Piz midiOut.dll Win/Mac, set it to LoopMidi then set Biab MIDI Input to LoopMidi, now set the CC volume fades/pans in the midi track.

EDIT: or have a look under Options > GM Settings > Master (Combo) Volume Adjust...

As Biab don't send Midi Out/In Audio Out/In to VstFX & VSTi in the rack I had to use MiniHost in the Combo slot with Insert Piz midiIn and Blue Cat's Gain Suite Win/Mac
