I wish the "Open" icon near the top of the toolbar,
would just go to the Windows "Open" dialog, the same way it does in RealBand.

If you need the rest of the selections on the BIAB "Open" menu,
you can always use the File > Open Special method.

Yes, I know about F3, and I wish the "Open" icon performed the same function.

Hi Lloyd
On my system, it appears to launch the Windows Open dialog. What dialog do you receive? Could you provide a screen capture?

VideoTrack:

On mine it opens the dropdown list showing 14 entries,
part of the same list you get when using File > Open Special.
If yours goes straight to the Windows dialog, I must be missing a setting somewhere.
Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi Lloyd

This is the process I undertook (it's the same result as pressing F3):

Lloyd, just to help define the problem, are you using BIAB 2018, build 520?

Matt:

I'm using 2018 build 516. I assume it should work the same.

VideoTrack:

Nope, that's not what I get when I click on the "Open" folder.
I get the dropdown as mentioned before.

(Sorry, I don't know how to add a screen shot here).

Thanks!

Lloyd,

It sounds like you might be using the 'Open' icon in Standard Screen view rather than the icon shown in Fullscreen view that Videotrack has used.

Use CTRL+T to change views and see if that helps.

Noel

Ahh Haa

Noel's right on the money, again. No surprise

Select the new screen view (Control-T will toggle) and the open dialog has a different function. This is the older 'Open' dialog:

Thought I would attempt this and my results from the standard window are the same as Lloyd S. In standard mode, there is a small drop down arrow on the icon and clicking the icon or the drop down arrow produces a list of opening options.

If I switch to the other screen and use the open icon, I get the same results as Videotrack...

Thanks also for confirming, Charlie. smile

Yup, that's the difference here.
Working from the "condensed" menu bar, I get the desired "Open" dialog using the "Open" icon on the toolbar.

So my "wishlist" item still stands.
Please make the "Open" icon on the "expanded" toolbar,
work the same as it does on the "condensed" toolbar.

Thanks all for your detective work!

There are lots of good requests here but if PG ever gets around to it that's another thing.
With the Biab Chord Picker Tool you can create your own icons to do any function or Macro with 1 click.
Or you can use your own Mini Action Buttons Toolbar:
Create Your Own Mini Action Buttons Toolbar to Control Biab or RealBand
