I have no idea why this isn't a thing already. I'm also totally baffled as to why some RDs with variations, i.e. those that have a caret (^) have a "cycle" selection option and others don't...
I'm fairly certain this would be a relatively simple feature to program into the existing RD algorithms (or whatever the proper term is) so it can be accomplished from the RD settings under the preferences menu...
