I'm not sure I'm getting this but are the "excluded" instruments in the Micro chords settings not supposed to be ...excluded?

And are they not supposed to be playing the main chord instead (as long as you don't specify a 'rest' of course which I didn't)?

Using midi styles mine keep on playing the micro chords.

If I'm not misunderstanding this I cant believe no one picked up on this in beta. Seems such an obvious flaw in the program.

a known issue. I reported it very recently.
Hopefully soon be fixed.
