I still use 2008 'cause I like it, the thing is I have just re-loaded my computer with Win 7 Pro and when I loaded BIAB I got this message "String NOSUPPORT-OS was not found in string table. Then seperate box SEVERE "NOSUPPORT-OS." I have never had this before with Win 7, I don't know what it means or how to fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Dave.

Have you tried starting the program by right-clicking on the shortcut and then selecting "Run as administrator"?

That's worth trying.

Regards,
Noel

As I recall, 2008 is pre-RealTracks (and RealDrums had just been introduced).

I would try a couple of things. First, try running as administrator as Noel indicated. But you may need to also set the compatibility mode to Windows XP or Vista and see if it works that way.

Also, make sure you didn't install BIAB to the "C:\Program Files" or "C:\Program Files (x86)" folder, as that will definitely cause problems also.

Dave, somebody has to say it: your version is ten years old. It's time to upgrade. You will not believe where the program is now with all the improvements, but surprisingly you should still feel basically at home using it.

Hi

Band-in-a-Box 2008 was the first year to have RealTracks, and I'd expect it to mostly work, but there would definitely be some issues, like the Roland Virtual Sound Canvas not being able to install.

A replacement synth would be $40 (Forte) or $49 (Cakewalk TTS-1), but since an update to 2018 Pro would only be $69, I'd definitely say that's the way to go, as there will likely be more issues anyway, and the upgrade will fix them.

Cheers
Kent

Go on Dave. Get 2018. You know you want it, and you won't believe the new features.
