Can a bar be broken into more that 2 chords on 4/4 timing

Right, four. Use a comma to separate the chords in beat 1 and 2, then another comma between beat 3 and 4.

If you need more, there's a workaround that often works: Edit, Song Form, Expand (durations of chords by 2). Then adjust the tempo and/or style as needed.

And for a waltz style, you can have two chords separated by a comma in the first cell (for beats 1 and 2), then one chord in the 2nd cell for beat 3.

And of course, you can use the caret (^) symbol in front of a chord to push it half a beat to the left (to the "and" of the previous beat); however, you can't have a chord on the "and" of the beat and another chord following on the next beat.
