When I play a backing track that I have entered, some of the melody notes are not highlighted in red - usually bars 9 and 13 but sometimes also 5. And sometimes when I play back all of the notes will be highlighted. I checked the Notation Window Options and the box next to "highlight playback notes in red" is ticked.

Many thanks

Hi Narayano,

Which version and build of Band-in-a-Box are you using, and is it for Windows or Mac?

Thanks

Hi Kent

I have Ultrapak 2018 (520) and I'm using Windows 10.

Thanks

Hi Narayano,

Is the problem occurring in the Leadsheet Window, or Notation? I do have the same issue in the Leadsheet window (this has been reported), but the Notation Window is still highlighting notes correctly for me.

Thanks

Hi Narayano, & Kent

Just to say I have the same build as you on w10
And get the same results almost
.
In notation view each note is highlighted red as it plays,

In lead sheet view each bar has a red highlight frame around it that progresses as the song plays, but the individual notes do not highlight I had assumed that was correct.

Hi Kent,

Until now I didn't realize there was a leadsheet window! Derr smile Can I please ask what is the purpose of the leadsheet window?

So that probably answers your question - it is happening in the Notation window.

Thanks

Narayano
Hi Mike,

As I just posted to Kent, the problems is occurring in the Notation window.

Cheers,

Narayano
Does it happen on one particular song, or all songs, and if you regenerate, is the behavior consistent at the same bars?

Is it a MIDI track (yellow) or a Real Track with transcription (identified because of the underscore)?

It happens with all songs. It still happens when I regenerate although it has sometimes varied with all notes lighting up.

I believe it's a midi track.

Thanks

Narayano
Tell us some more about the Style, the Track, your setup. There are limitless configurations.
Please give us more details.
Could it be that the note has no duration? It will show up on the staff as a quarter note, for instance, but if it is being played shorter than a pizzicato then it may not show the red note.

Just a thought. Switching to the old piano roll might identify why it's not showing
The song is Red River Valley and the Style is _CMPFB3.STY. I have UltraPak 2018 (520) and I'm using Windows 10. If it isn't resolvable it isn't a huge problem as I can still make backing tracks and when playing along I'm simply aware of the notes that don't highlight.

Thanks,,

Narayano
None of the notes are highlighted in certain bars - mainly 5 and 9.

Thanks

Narayano
Do you have four bars per line? I'm betting you do. My guess is the program is working so hard on creating other parts of the song that the program is not updating the screen as much as it should. How do you fix that? I don't know but I hope PG Music's programmers do know how to fix it.

One way you can test my theory is to change the number of bars displayed on each line then see if the bars that don't highlight change.
Hi Jim,

Thanks for that. My feeling is that you are totally right. My laptop has a 1 TB hard drive and 8 gb ram which is fine but the processor at 1,87 ghz isn't particularly fast so it's not keeping up. There are four bars per line but I don't know how to change that. Please let me know and I'll give it a go.

Many thanks

1,87 GHz should be more than enough - the processor likely isn't the culprit.

Notes with zero velocity do show up in notation, yet are silent on playback and are not red highlighted. That's a design feature.
Hi Narayano,

Can you freeze the tracks in the song file and send it to support@pgmusic.com please? I'll be happy to test it.

Thanks
Kent
PG Music
Hi Kent,

Can you tell me how to do that please.

Thanks,

Narayano
Open the song file.

Change the file name and save under the new name to create a back up file.

Click on the gray snowflake icon for each track. The snowflake icon turns blue to indicate the track is "frozen" and can not be changed.

Save the song file.

Attach the saved song file to an email. The email should also reference this forum post along with a "what to look for" issue description.

Mail the email to "support@pgmusic.com".
