Hi,

Here is a simple action that I can do with a lot of software: Syn my DAW with another software to start playing at the same time and remain synchronized, but I can not complete with Biab.
I put the same tempo on FL and Biab, but right now I am forced to play FL with some bars in advance, switch to Biab and click play but it's not always sync.
I saw two options that suggest it's possible in Biab:
1- Option / Preferences / MIDI options : "Output Sync/Start info"
2- Right clicking on play displaying this message: "playback paused till midi note or qwerty key pressed. (This is set in Opt-Preferences)"

So Biab tells me it's possible, ok, but where and how?

Thank you for your help

I don't. but if I understand it right, you can open your DAW and insert BB as a VST. That should give an automatic sync.

I work a different way. Several here do this too.

Write in BB. Save and close.

Open Real Band.... open the file.

Render the tracks as audio and export them to a folder.

Open your DAW and import the audio tracks. Set your DAW tempo to the BB song tempo.... DONE

Mix and have fun in your DAW

In other PGMusic products this is an option/setting somewhere in the MIDI prefs.

PT/RB can be either the master or slave for syncing .. if it's the slave it can be set to wait for a start message from the other controlling software/device.

I'll see if I can find this setting in BiaB, though your noted messages from BiaB are foreign to me (I'm a novice with BiaB, but experienced with other PGMusic software).

*edit
All I found is a on/off MIDI sync setting shown in the image below.
It appears that if BiaB is set to sync to another software/device, it waits for a message from that device to start playing.

I haven't tested this in real life, just noting the setting(s) and the noted behavior in the tooltips.

Another possibility is your Play options in Prefs (count-in) shown in the second imge; it can be set to wait for another message ..

Hey Massichat,

It's actually quite simple, and I cover this issue at the point timestamped in this link: https://youtu.be/hUKGWZhJ2vo?t=236

It's very important that you set the tempo in the project settings as i have shown, otherwise Reaper, in its default settings will stretch the audio if you adjust the tempo via the transport bar rather than in the project settings as shown in the video.

Please let me know if this addresses your issue.

All the best,

DB09

Oh my God !!!
1000 thanks Pipeline, you made my day
Frankly, I began to think that it was not possible without going back and forth with the drag / drop that I did not use too much when I'm only at the stage of audition styles .
Your tutorial is excellent and very detailed and I think your method is the best and most effective.
Thank you for sharing this valuable information with me / us smile

There is the Pipeline solution I just applied on FL :

0 - Setup loopMIDI

1 - In FL : Enable loopMIDI in Midi input settings

2 - In Biab : add MidiOut.dll as a VST (Here is the Pipeline's link)

3 - In MidiOut vst : Select loopMIDI Port

4 - Done ! Hit play in Biab & FL will follow !!!

Hey DeaconBlues09 !

Thank you, drag/drop (midi or audio) is very useful when we know more or less what we want to do, I retain this for the final rendering and I thank you for that, but it's not what I'm looking for here, I just want to make a quick audition of a lot of riffs to know what groove goes well with my project, so I have to change styles often and I can not do that with this method, at least not effectively.
I advise you Look at the Pipeline solution,
I'm sure it will help you a lot smile

Hi rharv,

As you just mentioned, in other soft, there is always an option to activate MIDI OUT (or IN) and define the port, it allows to communicate directly with another Master or Slave.

Like you, that's exactly what I found but unfortunately it did not help, Pipeline's solution worked perfectly!

Hey Guitarhacker

Insert Biab as VST, it's true that I did not think about it, I did not even think it exists as a VST, I'm wrong ?

While it has been requested, BIAB does not currently exist as a VST.

Yes FL exists as VST, I use it when the main project is on another host, which is rare since the essenteil of my projects are produced and finalized on FL, I would have liked the opposite: load Biab as VST on FL
