OK. So I created my first song. 51 bars. 6/8 It consists of:

2 bar intro >

4 bar verse >
2 bar prechorus >
4 bar chorus>

4 bar verse >
2 bar prechorus >
4 bar chorus

7 bar bridge
4 bar instrumental
1 bar pause (needs to be muted)

4 bar verse
2 bar prechorus
4 bar chorus
3 bar instrumental > 1 bar instrumental outro

Now that it's done, can I just highlight the bars and assign song parts (verse, chorus, etc.)to them?

Section Text, will do what you want. Simply select it from the "Chord Display | Layers" menu (#1 on the image below).

Once selected, click on the bar that begins the section. A text area then appears above the chords in the bar. Enter this text area by double-clicking on it.

If the view in the image below is different from your BIAB, press CTRL+T to change from full-screen to standard view.
