That's a great article. Thanks! Of course it's possible to ignore the influence of pop and remain relevant, but it's always good to know what's happening in the ethers, plus a little genre-bending can't hurt in this day and age.
What an interesting read, Mike! It's always fascinated me how the methodology of songwriting changes over the course of time. Thanks for sharing smile

Very interesting. I've used call and response on several pop songs I've written. But everything else was a new thought process for me. T The staccato words followed by an extended legato is a really good piece of advice I'd not thought of before. I particularly like that element. Thanks for the post.
