Hi;
Inside the new Power Track Pro Audio 2011 I can not find any drum patterns. Under the subfolder Drum there are a bunch of files with the extention .wav, .wma, .txt, but no file with the extention .dp.
Where can I find those .dp files? and what are those wav, wma, txt files for?
Thank you
Andrea

The drum pattern files are located in a folder called MIDIDrums, found in the PTPA folder. The WMA, etc files are from the small set of RealDrums that ships with PowerTracks. Like with RealBand, you can use RealDrums in PowerTracks; you just can't user RealTracks (the non-drum instruments).

To create a drum pattern in PTPA, you would select the command "Edit, Fill Track with MIDI Drum Pattern". From there, you can select the kind of drum pattern you would like. You can also specify which bars to fill.

To create a track with RealDrums, you would select "Edit, Fill Track with RealDrums (Audio)". You have to make sure that it is pointing to the DRUMS folder and then you can select which RealDrum you want to use, as well as the range of bars (or the whole song).

Hope that helped.

Thank you for your help. If you don't mind here is anothr question:
When I clik on "Re-Route Midi playback to default Dxi/VSTi Synth" the volume or the velocity of all midi tracks goes down to 50% but not the audio tracks, therefore I am not able to convert a song to a wave file becouse you can hardly hear the midi tracks.
There is a way to avoid this inconvenient?
Volume trim is set to zero.
If I unchecked the Re-Route ..... all the tracks are ok but I am not able to create a wave file.
Thank you in advance
Andrea

You probably need to go into your DXi synth and set the volume controls there. Also, i would recommend going adding the PGDynamics and PGPeakLimit effects on the DXi selection screen. that should help push your volume back up.

See below for an example. Yours will be different depending upon which synth you are using. you get to this screen by clicking on the DXi/VSTi Synths button.

Good thinking John

I'd try just the PGPeakLimit first. Less drain on system (very small with this particular plugin) and less chance of coloring the sound with unintended compression (via pgdynamics).

I have used this trick to boost a MIDI click track many times.
.. and audio clicks too, come to think of it. It is great little plugin from PGMusic that boosts output on any synth or track (or all of them).

Very simple to use; itis what is known as a Brickwall Limiter. You leave the right slider alone, which means the output will be about a hald dB at maximum output. Then you adjust the left slider to make the VU meter inside the plugin get up close to zero. If it is hitting zero it will start limiting to keep it just below, and this can cause the dreading 'pumping' effect. Use your ears and boost it just enough.

The PGDynamic plugin does the same thing; compresses sound, but it has a LOT more to deal with in the way of parameters. Things could start getting compresses way below the zero level very easily. The PGPeakLimit plugin does what you need with very little effort or system resources.

Make your sound your own!
.. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Nice idea Bob, but I can't get this to work for MIDI tracks.

I open the mixer window and all the volume are up but no difference. I did not have this problem with Power Track 10.

Which DXi synth are you using and what synth are you using when DXi is unchecked?

If you go to a MIDI track and click the little arrow beside the track number, what is listed as the synth in the top box?
Then in the next box, if you use the arrow on the right to drop it down, do you see the PGPlugins like PGDynamics or PGPeaklimit? If so, select it. If not, then you did not install the PGPlugins during installation. There is a separate PGPlugins intaller on whatever media you recieved the product on. You'll have to install them. The only other reason you wouldn't see them is because you are not using a DXi plugin, which is what John is trying to clear up also.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
