Hi all
Here's a new Celtic-style song, " Listen To Me ". I've added flute and vocal harmonies (with the Helicon Harmony GTX)
I know very little of Celtic music, however I really like the feel and sound of it.
ANY comments welcome.

Best

Hi Jan,

I thoroughly enjoyed this. You've got an excellent sound happening. I'm always a sucker for things written in 12/8! You've managed the time signature really well.

Since you asked for comments, one thing that occurred to me as I listened, and I don't know if it's useful or not, but if this was my recording, I'd bring the vocals a little more forward and drop off a little of the reverb (in the verses in particular). I also found myself wondering if the vocals would benefit from a tad of higher freq. EQ. That's just my two krone's worth of comments

Yep, I really liked this.

All the best,
Noel

I enjoyed the contrast in styles here with the celtic thing against a rather rock sounding drum track and I like the flute motif because it’s simple.

Vox slightly indistinct for reasons already mentioned

All in all, an interesting piece, Jan.

PGFantastic, Noel & mglinert

Thanks a lot for listening and comments.Yeah, tweaking the vox has always been a challenge for me, hence your comments are appreciated. Actually there is no 'clean' reverb on the vox tracks, as I have used stereo delay on this tune.

That's a very good song, Jan. It lifts well as it goes along and I liked the vocals and panning of the components.
Personal comments, take with a pinch of salt: I think the intro is too long and the whole backing should come in at 00:18 rather than 00:35. Vocals, yes they need a bit of 'air' at 12-15Khz or thereabouts. The delay on the end was a nice touch but it suddenly got cut off which spoiled the fading away effect.

Hi John

Thanks for listening and and your comments, appreciated. Your thoughts about the lenght of the intro is just right, I agree, but for other reasons I left it there. On basis of the previous advices I remastered the song, adding some air to the whole song, and in my opinion it lifted the tune a bit.
Thanks again John

Hi Jan,

I've just listened to the remastered version. Wow! You've really lifted the song up a few notches with the changes. This version sounds much more engaging! It's an A+ from me

All the best,
Noel

Another big A+

Would you mind sharing what your flute soundsource was?

Hi MarioD

Thanks for listening. Yeah, master really matters, not an easy task though

I used the EastWest Goliath library. At start I intended to use the "Irish Low Whistle", which I thought would fit well to the feel of the song, but ended up using the "Flute" from the "Orchestra" library.

Thanks for feedback

Hi Jan,

Nice. I think this would make a great soundtrack for film/tv.

Hey Rock Celtic is this a first ? I understand that if you pan the vocals slightly to the right the brain will focus on that . Cool song Jan !

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
