I wanted to write a song to honor all the men and women in the military who have had to be away from their families and loved ones. So here it is. All the instruments are RealTracks/RealDrums, plus a little bit of strings and brass, using Miroslav Philharmonik. I hope you enjoy it!

Where I'm Going

Here is the BIAB info...

And here are the lyrics...
Where I'm Going
Copyright Stephen W. Young

Verse 1
The nights are lonely here without you
I see you everywhere I turn
I count the days from when I left you
I count the days 'til I am home

Verse 2
I know the cause is great before me
I know the stakes are very high
I've seen so many broken hearted
I've seen so many big men cry

Chorus
And if I seem to ramble on in what I'm saying
I hope to make it clear before I'm through
You see, I know where I belong and where I'm going
And every step I take brings me one step closer to you

Verse 3
I hear the sound of little children
They're playing in a land that's free
I hear the sound of generations
They're singing songs of liberty

Chorus
And if I seem to ramble on in what I'm saying
I hope to make it clear before I'm through
You see, I know where I belong and where I'm going
And every step I take brings me one step closer to you

---
Have a great day!

Steve

Nice song Steve. I liked everything about it, vocals (first class), arrangement, mix, well, everything! Thanks for bringing along this one.

Wow! I actually thought this was Skyline's song until I paid a bit more attention (and after listening all the way through). Fine tune, great mix, tremendous use of Real Tracks. It sparkled through my little 2.1 PC system. I'll make a point to listen through the big speaks this evening.

I never would have thought to even listen to the Praise and Worship drums, pointing up something I said in the BIAB forum about listening to EVERYTHING in order to make intelligent decisions about what tracks to use.

Great job!

R.

Very, very nice, Steve!

No important criticism.... I really appreciated the restraint you used in every aspect of the song... understatement, less is more.

Thank you.

Ryszard,

Thanks so much! I hope you weren't too disappointed that I wasn't Skyline.

I agree with you. I have long been encouraging people to stay open to using combinations of instruments you wouldn't normally think of using. The main thing is to really listen.

Thanks again for your kind words!

Hi Brad,

Thank you for taking time to listen and post about my song! Really appreciated.

I think there is always a temptation to allow things to be too busy. Every part can sound so great by itself. But when I listen to some of the great productions, some of the fullest sounds are the simplest - they just fit! Always a big challenge.

Thanks again.

Because I thought it was, I kept listening for that Strat sound of his. And there it was, right towards the end! Fantastic sound! Then I switched back to this discussion and saw what was really going on. I am truly blown away by the fact that that was a Real Track, and more impressed with them than ever. (This coming from a MIDI guy who is a guitarist himself.) As has been said above, the understated quality makes the whole production shine. I look forward to your next offering.

Richard

P.S.: Look for a PM.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
