Hi,
My BB worked ok until today, when it suddenly just played the Real instruments but no Midis anymore. So I went to the Drivers Menue, where the proper Driver was selected anyway. I hit the ok Button and the prog hangs.
I restarted the system, resetted to factory settings went to the Driver Menue again, and the same thing, hangs up when I hit the ok button of the Midi Driver menue.
i hear all the Real Instruments. My drivers DO work in other Midi programms.
What the f*** is going on with this programm. I would really appreaciate if PG would NOT bring out hundreds of new Real instruments this year but instead use the time to develop better programm stability. I want a programm that works!

I am indeed very angry (I`m in the middle of work here, and money goes down the drain. Now I have to reinstall the whole thing, just for NOTHING)

Now this is getteing even better!
I did a complete reinstall. I erased the folder in C (since it doesnt write into the registry I think its ok to just erase the according folder).
Reinstalled and again it hangs when closing the Midi Driver menue. What seems strange to me also is, that the BB install routine showed me the correct path already, not the regular c:bb path, but the folder BB was in BEFORE I deinstalled it. How can Bb know where I had my installation before? Is there a preference or log file somewhere in my system that I forgot to erase (I indeed looked into C: Documents and Settings for files like that before I erased BB, but didn`t find any)

Again, my Midi stuff is working with other Midi progs perfectly well, so why does BB suddenly not like with my Midi drivers?

Help very much apreciated.

Sandra

I cannot close bbw.exe in the task manager when the programm crashes. This has never happened to me with any other programm. I always could at least cancel a programms proces in the task managers process list.

Try this:

1. Open the midi drivers box and select something you do not use like microsoft xx
2. Check the use Dxi box.
3. Open the Dxi box to see the volume settings, sometimes for a strange reason all mine end up set at zero.

i use a combination of the dxi synth on one computer and the ketron sd2 on the other, and I did have your problem once, what I said above fixed it. It also seems that the program does not want the VSC and the VSCdxi both checked, I do not know why. I now run the program from the 80 gig hard drive the Ultra pak is on and have no issues between the 3 computers I am using.

Also you seem quite stressed out, I would drop by and play Oktoberfest musik on my tuba for you, but I am leaving for Cuba in a few hours and maybe the sun, and um rum, will cure my aches and pains for a few days.

Good morning John,
Thanx for your very nice and helpful input, I am about solving the problem. I have deinstalled again, this time also erased VSC Driver parts out of the registry by hand. I reinstalled it, and now it seems to work. I am still a little skeptical if the peace remains, lets see.

John, I`m not a fan of "Volksmusik" (Alpine brass music), but I would have loved to hear you play some Oktoberfest music for me
I hope you have a nice vacation in Cuba (if your a smoker get them cigarrs into your luggage somehow )
The weather will be good for your physical pain and your soul. Have a great time and let us know your travel report after your back home in cold Canada again.

Jumping up and down on the bed playing the tuba makes for a lot of laughing. Problem is you have to watch the ceiling height, and usually more than the valves need lubrication prior to acting crazy....

All signs you reported were pointing at a MIDI device and the VSC can indeed get corrupted.

You did good.

Less problems with a hardware synth like the SD2, BTW.

Hi Mac,
Thanks for your reply. It seems to work now, everything fine. I am a little choleric and unpatient sometimes when it comes to computers. Man, I will ask god for a 26 hour day, because the 2 hours are needed for solving computer problems. But I guess he`s (she`s) got more important stuff to do.

Mac, you`ve been makeing the Ketron tasty to me for some time now - I`ll consider a purchase

Sandra

@John: Please send me a video of you jumping on the bed with your tuba

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
