Hello,
Why doesn't Pg Music expand band in a box into a full DAW like Logic studio or Cubase, Digital performer etc. ?
I like the idea of a system that I use as my main workhorse with all the tools I need inside without ever leaving the program and things that are not there you can add with third party plug-ins.
This new concept would make Band in a box even more powerfull and lots of more people will start using it.
Still there is something really important missing and I'd like to have your point of view and see if there are other musicians worldwide wanting this to be implemented as soon as possible.
With all the possibilities what we have today only our imagination is the limit. You have polyphonic audio to midi converters, audio harmonizer plug-ins, autotune, auto composing software, Garageband and even online world wide music making possiblities like Ohm studio but still no real microtonal music support. It's one of the most important one and not to be underestimated.
I don't understand why still no software developer in the year 2012 where everything is possible is supporting real microtuning the way it should be cause everything is still based around the twelve semitone western octave sytstem while the biggest part in the world makes microtonal musing.
Look at the Indian world, The Arabic world, Middle East, Turkish world, Indonesia, China etc. etc.
Today if you want to use microtuning you can retune an existing tone say a c# to a microtone but at the end you're still limited to maximum 12 tones in an actove and you will lose the original tone cause it's being microtuned.
Why I am saying all this is that I have been corresponding to a lot of software developers but the only ones which are supporting it are:-Celemony Melodyne, Garritan instruments, Motu ethno and www.h-pi.com. There is also a nice microtuning organisation in The Netherlands:http://www.huygens-fokker.org/scala/ with their scala system.

Me myself I play Turkish instruments with at least 17 tones in an octave and some Turkish music has even above 100 tones in an octave but if I want to use Garageband, Ableton live, an audio harmonizer plug-in, autotune or an audio to midi converter it will not work because of the microtunes. It's not fair.
Band in a box doesn't support real microtuning, with it's oriental styles it only scratches the surface.

They can for the microtuning part collobarate with one of the microtuning specialists and add online music making to that as well.
Thank you for taking time to read my message and I would be glad to hear your thoughts.
Don't forget if not a lot of people ask for these features it doesn't mean it's not a world class idea. A lot of people gave up cause they think it will never be implemented.Hope to get some support.

I think that would require rewriting the MIDI spec, if you want more than 12 tones per octave. In MIDI each each note has a number and there are 12 per octave. That's beyond what BIAB does.

As far as your first request, they already have. It's called RealBand.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
