I'm beginning to think by soon they mean December.

unless nobody at PGMusic is watching the forum (which is highly doubtful) they know that we've been wondering whether there will even BE a dot-five relase in 2012. In the context of that knowledge, to say SOON if they really meant DECEMBER would be monumentally ill-advised.

So, the little plastic MIDI guitar purchase will have to wait. My next online purchase will be 2012.5

(coming SOON to a shopping cart near YOU!)

---------------
according to Webster's New World Dictionary:
SOON (adverb)
1) in a short time
2) fast or quickly
3) a lot faster than December*

*(actually I made that last one up)

Pat I hope you are right but I'm beginning to lose faith. Even so I'm willing to wait a few more days before I give up and upgrade to Sibelius 7.

OK. Now I have the 2012.5 fever too. Someone here told me the new version often comes at a discount and that, along with all the good things I'm hearing here about BIAB, has me just about convinced. So, I'm finding myself checking here every day to see if the 2012.5 is out yet!

John, don't worry about it, get it now. They always give new people the update if they've bought within 30 days of the release and I've heard of a few cases where it was longer than that. The company is very generous about that. Get familiar with it now, then the new stuff will be easier for you.

But does PG make promises that if you buy just before a sale then they will refund you the price difference. I dont think so, any upgrade version yes but price difference refund NO.

Has anybody considered the for the "Coming soon" announcement may have just been PG's way to get Pat out of the parking lot?

The guy with the leaf blower probably has a lot of cleaning up to do

Ouch! Dang, you may be right!

Speaking of the PGMusic parking lot... if you take the address shown on the CONTACT page
( http://www.pgmusic.com/contact.htm ) and plug it into Google maps, you'll find that there's a street view for this address. (I don't even see a parking lot there, which proves once again what an unreliable source I am)

I know we are all having a bit of fun here, but in all seriouseness once we get into Septemeber its a short wait until middle of December and then anyone who wants to upgrade can get the whole lot and save the mid year (did I say mid year!) price.

It actually works out at around $60 when the maths is done for the ultra pak.

Well if we actually get 2012.5 I'm beginning to wonder if that means we'll have to wait till 2013 to get the 2013 upgrade.

I tend to have less money available at Christmas, for obvious reasons... so it has made sense for me to upgrade at whatever time of year there was a reduced price and a bunch of new realtracks.

This is beginning to remind me of a boy watching out for Grandpa's visit on Sunday. I have been visiting this site so many times that I feel if we could get rated for visits I could have a chance of catching up with Mac......

You need to do a lot of posting to catch up with Mac - the guy is legendary!!!

And I might add, one of the most valuable assets in this community.

One thing I would point out is that PG Music never said that the next release would be "coming soon". A first time poster, and one time poster at that, said that PG Music said the release would be coming soon. Do we want to accept that as Gospel? One thing hanging around forums has taught me is that when you see a brand new personality show up for the first time, and he has exciting news, be suspect.

I just pulled up my "orders" folder in my email and found that on August 18, 2009, I ordered the audiophile version of BIAB. Since my habit has been to place my order for available upgrades within a day of their announcement, that would tend to indicate that in 2009, PG didn't release their mid year upgrade until mid-august.

Second-time poster here

Looks like "soon" was reasonably soon. I checked again this morning and am pleased to see the .5 on the end.

I was hoping the special pricing would extend to people other than 2012 owners, but it looks like that's not the case - makes $ense for them I guess.

I have BIAB 2006 so I guess I can expect a few differences - although it looks like it still has the same interface basically.

The switch from 2006 to 2012.5 will have MANY new features.
You'll be amazed.

2006? Are you sure?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
