OP musiclover Veteran Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 2,846 Derry,Ireland	Hi folks, I'm getting old! whats the name again of a single note usually on the forth beat of measure that leads into the main song. I should know this but I don't. I take it it's easy enough to set up biab to play this by adding an extra measure at start of song and then silencing the different instruments for 3 beats in a 4/4 song? Thanks for any help. Noel96 Veteran Joined: Oct 2008 Posts: 18,864 Australia	Hi musiclover, Some call it a pick-up note, others call it an up-beat note (as in "on the up-beat of a conductor's baton" and thus a weak beat), and yet others will call it an anacrusis (which is what classical musicians favor). Just about to start laying down a song that needs it. "Pickup note" works well enough. If I recall correctly, anacrusis can also refer to pickup notes at the beginning of phrases not just at the beginning of the song? BIAB 2024 Win Audiophile.
