I'm using a Ketron SD2 (hard synth) with a sound module. When I render a biab song to .wav, the biab program/window locks up. I finally figured out why this happens. There are some popup windows that open when you click the ".WAV" button on the toolbar. After you click the re-render button, popup windows appear, but you can't see them because the are hiding behind the main biab window. You have to close each of the popup windows before you can do anything in the biab window...and it won't let you drag the biab window to access the popup windows either nor will it respond to the mouse/keyboard.

What I did to solve this is to make the biab main window smaller (but save your song first) and move it about halfway down the monitor BEFORE I click the .wav button. When the rendering is complete, close the "rendering complete" window first, then the "stop rendering" window, and then the "rendering" window. The biab window will unfreeze and you can then either go back to the pgm or exit. If you don't close the popup windows, you will get an access violation and/or you will have to hit cntl-alt-del and close BIAB with task manager. Actually, I hope no one else has this problem. I've had on 3 different computers.

Wrong forum. This is to share what you have found our about, or something you think is cool as far as the software is concerned. The regular Band in A Box forum is where this goes.

If that makes sense. Sort of like you found the recipe for biscuits that are the best. Not that you don't understand why they fall flat.

Actually, this seems correctly placed to me. Stan is giving the method he uses to avoid a crash while rendering.

There are a few things I don't understand, though. You can't render to .WAV using a hardware synth. Do you have DXi on, which doesn't use the hardware synth?

And this is partly a Wishlist post, isn't it? The request would be to be able to get focus on the BIAB window in this situation and move it, so you did not need the workaround of making the window smaller and lower?

Actually, I got the tip from PG Music Support since I didn't see the windows to close to avoid the crash. No, I don't have the DXi box checked and I use the ReRender Button which is at the bottom of the various choices.

I only posted this because I thought it might help someone else. Since there are no responses maybe I should not have posted it. I promise to more discerning in the future.

Stan

Glad you are all set. And I don't see how you could have done it any differently.

Well, at least it's consistent. I just rendered a song a few minutes ago and now I remember to reduce the screen size so I can access the 3 popup windows to close. It's not a big deal to do and I hope no one else has this problem.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
