Hi guys, this problem started with me yesterday. I try & play any midi or real tracks biab song & I get a message saying @ get buffer size function failed. Your AISO driver may not be installed properly.
I know it IS installed as it works fine on sonar 8.

Tried a ruturn to factory settings option, no luck.

Hi Graham,

From what I've read on posts here, ASIO and BIAB do not always shake hands and smile at one another. A couple of thoughts that occur to me ...

1. Have you tried MME to see if things work ok?

2. What ASIO driver are you using? (The best results with the PG Music suite seems to come from using ASIO4ALL which is, if my understanding is correct, an ASIO wrapper and not an ASIO driver.)

Also, what version of BIAB do you have and what are the specs of your operating system?

The link below is to a FAQ by PG Music regarding ASIO. It might be useful.

Regards,
Noel

Odd thing it's worked fine for years. MME drivers were causing problems for a while and I was getting distortion issues, but I got to the root of that problem. This nonsense only started on Friday and for no apparent reason as I never downloaded anything, nor update any soundcard drivers. If it ain't broke why fix it ? My PC motherboard's about 6 years old and does everything I want it to, my soundcard is around 15 years old and still sounds better than the bundled audio chip that comes with the pc.

Graham, you don't mention what the soundcard actually is.

But you may just be suffering from corrupted soundcard driver, it happens occasionally.

The answer would be to navigate to the webpage of the soundcard manufacturer (do NOT trust any of those driver mirror or storage sites with old drivers, etc. go to the manufacturer's Support page) and find the latest drivers for your sound device, download and install them. This often cures a lot of sudden soundcard problems as there cn be other reasons besides corruption for the sudden impairment, sometimes an update to OS or some other program can also cause problems, latest drivers may solve that as well.

So hit the Terratec site and do the do, my friend.

Worst case scenario is that it still won't work...

AISO for all did the job Mac. I did actually load the latest drivers from Terratecs' home page. Didn't make a difference, that's why I came on here looking for clues.

Alright then.

Um, you do realize that you are interpolating the I and the S in "ASIO"?

ASIO = Audio Streaming Input Output

I talked myself out of work, but I still have about 14 establishments I baby sit for sound problems. Their motto is, if all else fails, call John.

XP seems to have a problem IF you are on the net, or IF you were a while ago. I suspect Microsoft, as they were getting warnings about an illegal version of XP on the system.

Then the sound card quits.

My advice in a letter was simple.

You pay me 50 bucks a month to talk to me. Then about 200 for me to do my thing. Travel expenses, some places are 80 km or more from home. They already paid some guy about 100 bucks for advice before me.

I say, buy a new system for 600 bucks or less. Get Win 7. Get a soundcard if you are doing DJ stuff and need 2 outputs to the mixer. A real version of windows, the new gear, it will work.

I lost a bunch of work, but I'm not motivated to travel and sit in some DJ booth for hours, the place stinks of beer and other, and I even think about sending a guy I know to do what I do. Which is use wisdom, not some geek tech stuff that does nothing 1/2 the time.

One place put in all new amps (4) and speakers all around. Nice setup. Hummmm, Hummmmm...drove them nuts. It was close. I unplugged the amps, one at a time back in alone, and then used side cutters to knock off the ground pin. No hum. 400 bucks. Cash. From the door. whoops. Then I fixed a toilet, a fan that wouldn't run on the roof, and when there cleaned the roof drains. People seem to know nothing. So sad. When leaving 2 guys from the door have crowbars and are levelling a sidewalk slab. The owner asks what they are doing. I tell him it was a place to trip and get sued. He reaches in the wallet and gives me a nice crisp 100 buck american bill. Why do I go back????

I have found age should equal knowledge. Keep learning. Or lose it, whatever it is.

Off to walk my puppy. Watch her chase butterflies. In the late summer sun. Cute furry little thing gives nice warm hugs at 5 a.m. when I have to take her outside for 30 seconds to do that dog thing.

Some people don't know that most toilets have a chain from the handle to the works. If it falls off nothing happens. Paper clip for now.

The manager called for a new toilet. The 'old' one was about a year old.

Hopefully the guy who does not know that puts your money in the right person's bank account.

Scary stuff.

I have one son like that. The car was out of gas. But the battery was dead. Walked about a mile, got gas, put it in and it still made no noise. Wow. Just wow.

But I'm so wise according to him. I'm leaving him think I'm smart, not that he's ....... (fill in the blank).

He did get the high score for a week in some game involving conquest of the wurld. I meant wurld.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
