I am using the new 1040XTRAEZ form this year. It has just 2 lines.

1. How much did you make in 2023?

There's not very many better suited places to play country.

Unless of course you come up to WV to play.

Sort of. I live in NC but the Ga & Tn borders are only 5 miles away.I can officially say I'm touring 3 States.

I do hope that everyone here understands that I'm not bragging about my gigs. What I'm trying to do is show the newbies here that indeed one can go out and play music live and be successful at it using BIAB or RealBand.

I'd have to sell a house (and HOPE to break even), find a job.... at 61... not a good age to start over in a new city.

But the thought of being so close to a place as beautiful as the Smoky Mountains, having that place to walk with my dog and take pictures.... As hard as IT work is to find even in bigger cities, to enjoy the more rustic living I'd be driving an hour to Charlotte to work every day.

I think about it a lot, but logistics just aren't there.

If I recall, Asheville is the first major city to the east of John. My brother moved there, and I visited once. If he were still living, I would be down there again; the mountains are very beautiful (and that's from a native of the Adirondacks).

About 8 years ago I took a 4 day weekend and went to The Biltmore. Left early on a Thursday, made the 8 hour drive and had the balance of Thursday, all of Friday, all of Saturday and Sunday until about 3pm when I headed back. I had the previous dog, also a Terrier, and she walked with me along those trails with energy I hadn't seen in her before and didn't see again. The dog I have now would love it even more. Charlotte would be perfect. Mountains one way, ocean the other way. But life seems to be in the way. Finances won't permit it, job availability considerations... I am pretty much stuck here until the end of the show....

John,

Same here, nothing special about me but I am playing 75 - 85 gigs a year for the past 3 years. I guess it may be something special about BIAB.

I envy you guys for having the energy to do that. After my 40 hour job, there is just not enough gas in the tank to spend weeks preparing a show, then to load out, load in, set up, play, load out, load back into the house..... Even 2-3 a month would ruin me for the whole next week.

I had a band suddenly lose their sound man in July 2011 who called me to run sound. I did it until January. They didn't work much, but when I had to run sound on a Saturday, I didn't get home until 4am. By the time the adrenaline burned off, it was 5am before I got to sleep. Then I would sleep until 1pm. That made me lose my whole Sunday, as well as when it was time to go to sleep Sunday night, I had only been awake 9-10 hours and would lay awake until 2-3. Then the alarm woke me at 6:30, and I was tired all Monday. And that is all from just running sound!!

And to think that I was in a band that played 7 shows over 4 days from Thursday thru Sunday! Now I play one show a year and it drains me.

It was like that for me 10 years ago. Very tough to work 40 hrs and play on the weekend. I don't work anymore and quite frankly it's a lot of work just getting through the days with nothing.I wellcome the chance to play. Most gigs are earlier as well. 11:00PM the latest.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
