Hi everyone,
Is it possible to controll the BB mixer with my daw controller (Behringer BCF 2000)?

No, PG products don't work with outboard midi controllers.

The exception was the Frontier Design Tranzport. BIAB had native support for that. I say "had" because the Tranzport is discontinued for a few years now, though there are still many out there. The Tranzport offered transport control but not mixing control.

The reason I suspect the Tranzport was discontinued, and other full control surfaces like my Tascam were also discontinued, is that iPad apps running by WiFi offer so much more functionality. With the exception that the faders are swipe based instead of physical motorized capacitance-activated faders, everything about my iPad controller is so much better. I use V-Control Pro, and have encouraged PG Music to become one of the many DAWs and other audio software that are supported. I believe that direction is the near future, not dedicated hardware control surfaces, at least until you get up into the pro recording studio level.

I have never seen a need for a $600 iPad except for music related things and even then that's a lot of cash. A few months ago I paid $380 for a nice used EV ELX112P 600W powered stage speaker. Compared to that an iPad can wait but they certainly have that "cool" factor and there's new music related apps coming along every hour it seems and some of them are pretty slick.

I was at Sam Ash and they were demoing a DAW being controlled by a mixer that had an iPad dock built in so the iPad was acting as a much larger led screen for the mixer. The guy was simply pinching and dragging envelope controls and other effects and it was really slick. When I see stuff like this I keep thinking about Real Band and how cool a program it is but yet it can't handle anything like this, in fact it looks like a real dinosaur compared to mixing and manipulating the sound just by dragging your finger on a screen. I literally was visualizing Biab or RB being demoed right there in the middle of the floor with that very hot mixer/iPad combo and the guy is showing everybody how to generate Real Tracks and creating a cool song from scratch. He could ask anybody to yell out some chords, enter them and hit play. To my way of thinking it would transform the image of PG Music. It doesn't matter that the average user never learns what "transform wav audio" means or how it works. What matters is the very cool flashy look of it and people going ohh and ahhh. The problem of course is that mixer had a $1,299 tag on it and the iPad is another $599 so basically two grand for that setup and Biab by itself costs how much?

Even though I don't have one I recognize an iPad is becoming the ubiquitous "must have" tech gadget for pretty much anybody under 30 and plenty of others older than that.

I have an IPAD II it is great for email, Internet, and most other thing, but as a controller it can really excel. I use a program called splash top that allows me to control any program on the network I just download a simpe program called streamer ( also on spashtop site) then I can see BB or RB, or any program, right on the IPAD screen. You can mix, monitor, process, add effect, control the program just lie it was installed on the IPAD.

Faders are most often Resistive, not Capacitive.

Yes, I have Splashtop Streamer as well, and it can control BIAB.

And don't forget that PG Music has a BIAB Remote app for Android and iOS.

Matt the BiaB app is not a controller from what I can see, just a remote app. Maybe I don't understand

That's right, although it's pretty powerful and the lines all start to blur when we're talking how to control BIAB. Here is info on that app: http://www.pgmusic.com/support.iphone.bbremote.htm

Oh yeah, I just discovered BB Remote for Android again. Haven`t used it in a long time and now I see why! Well, the mixer is there - GREAT! The app is cool, but I just get straight major chords.
My chord sheet is something like: Em7b5 | A7b13 | Dm9 etc. and all I get is E | A | D | chords.
I think I posted a thread about this back then and I couldn`t solve the problem and I guess that`s why I haven`t used the app ever since. That`s a pitty, cause it has everything I want, if it`d only work;-)

I'm not using Android, but an iPhone 5, and I have some truncation of chord names in BIAB Remote.

For example, a measure that has Am11, Ab13#11 truncates the #11 and appears as Am11, Ab13

My version of BIAB Remote is 1.2.2, Build 3110.

My version of BIAB Server is 2.0.0, Build 5046.

I`m using BB Remote 1.2.1 Build 3152 on my HTC Evo 3D smartphone. My desktop has BB 2013 on.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
