It seems that one massive improvement in BIAB could be achieved by allowing more flexibility in the actual notes that make up the generated chord part. For me this is a fundamental and extremely doable component of any auto accompaniment program and yet over the years its remained very much the 'Elephant in the Room' so to speak when it comes to any chord issue that comes up in these forums.

Lots of interesting harmonic textures could be possible by the addition and/or deletion of notes from everyday chord spellings. Harmonies in seconds or wide intervals could be achieved. Sparse chords with a root and a seventh could alternate with denser more colourful chords.. the sky's the limit. Ever wondered how a minor 7 chord with an added 6 might sound or a m7 with both a raised and natural 5th?
So much interesting varied colour is currently out of reach except by the most arduous editing processes.

If a user specific voicing table is out of the question (and we've yet to hear why that's not possible)then a simpler note mapping function for each style instrument currently being edited in the stylemaker would be a useful compromise.
Simply put, this would allow you to determine that any specific midi note occurring in all the style patterns for an instrument could be moved to any other midi note of your choosing. Muting any midi note would also be an option.

At any rate I think its an issue that's long overdue a more focussed and urgent discussion than the sort of piecemeal treatment it's had up until now. Anyone agree?

Cheers
