The new studio area is primed, and I'm thinking about how things are to be arranged. Right now I have the mixer at home, but visualizing it in the studio, it'll take a lot of room. It is 40" X 21" X 4". The cabinet I built for it is 42" wide and takes a fair amount of precious space. It's just a 3282A, so not a huge loss if anything happens to it, but nice to have all the In/Out options.
Has anyone seen a mixer mounted on a wall? Is there a reason I shouldn't even be thinking about doing this? It is not a powered mixer and the power supply is separate rack mounted, so heat shouldn't be much of an issue.
Any ideas or resources you could toss my way?

My buddy Larry had his 32 ch. mixer mounted vertically on the wall for about a decade.
But he did not use it for active mixing purposes, as might be done with the analog tracking situation and tape.
He used that mixer as his mic preamps, line inputs, signal routing, etc. and kept it basically Normalized for the kind of recording he did in there. Kind of like a Patch Bay in use, but a Patch Bay that also had the ability to FADE, EQ, route to more than one output, etc.
One neat thing about that arrangement was that Larry had used double pane glass to make botha Vocal Booth and a Drum booth using MIDI drums, both were Normalized thru that mixer and, if nobody touched ay knobs or faders, we always knew what we were going to get without a lot of setup time or leveling.
Since we were recording into Mac or PC, there was no real need for the physical active mixing from the big board anyway. That takes place inside the computers. I think he used that big old board, one of the Peavey monsters from the 90s, simply because he already had it when he built his home studio.
Worked good for that purpose, although having to stand up and reach to change things was a bit of an interrupter sometimes in the heat of battle.
But it was about the only way to FIT that big 32 into 8 board into his converted home studio anyway.

Thanks Mac We are looking at the same situation. a 32 in to 8/8 board, used for feeding the computer and routing, much like you describe. We do have a 48 port patchbay in play also for added flexibility, so mixer end of connections could pretty much stay fixed once set up.
I didn't know if there was an airflow that may have been designed in that I might inadvertently ruin, or anything like that.
How'd he mount it? Just a slight lean toward the wall, with bottom block, or was it more secure? I'd imagine a couple L or Z brackets could be fashioned up to clamp it down at key points.

I don't know how you would do that, but I would sure like to see a picture after you're finished! That would really save a lot of space.

That's why I posted. Not sure how I should do it either, but with a carpentry/construction background (from years ago) I should be able to figure out something.
The space saved is the motivation. That's a fair amount of space freed up in a small studio. A universal solution may actually have some profitability.

This particular guy used flat steel straps as brackets, screws to bottom of mixer, toggle bolts to wall. NEver looked, but I don't think he drilled into the mixer itself, likely utilized existing bottom cover hold down screws, but may have had to substitute slightly longer ones of same dia. and thread. A rail underneath to hole the weight as you mention is a good idea, I think. I'm sure you can come up with a hanging scenario that is robust enough for your purposes, rharv. You're a pretty gifted guy. --Mac

Using your bracket idea. Use 4 brackets. Make sure the brackets are about 1/2 to 3/4 longer than depth of mixer. Purchase 4 of these:Drill and tap end of each bracket just clearing the Mixer case. Mount brackets as you wish, then use the knobs to retain the unit in place.

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
