Okay, it's actually happening in another four hours, but soon enough. Why is it relevant here?

For the better part of the last six years I have been in a relationship where for some insane reason I put my music on hold. I hardly listened to anything I liked (because she didn't like it. What was I thinking?) and didn't create anything, either. Some of you must be wondering whether I can play at all. Embarrassing, really. I finally had to break it off.

In March I met someone wonderful-er. It's been just a short time, but we have no secrets and both know what we want, so we made an executive decision to get hitched. The ceremony is today at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time.

Among her many great qualities is the fact that she is a musician, too. (Baritone sax. She hasn't played in years, but we're going to fix that.) She is really into what I do (Yes, I actually compose and play. grin) Finally, I can put on my music, turn it up, and know that she digs it, too. What a breath of fresh air.

I just moved in yesterday, so it's going to take a while to dig out. No promises as to when I will start producing, but I look forward to sharing some of my stuff with you guys relatively soon. It has been far too long.

Richard

Consider getting her a Yamaha WX5 Wind MIDI controller - it fingers quite like a saxophone. If you can find a discontinued VL70-m sound module (also Yamaha) that is the best one for wind synth.

Then she can play bari, alto, tenor, trombone, trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, and hundreds of other instruments.

Congratulations, I wish you many years of wedded bliss. Now go make some beautiful music together!!!

Bob, I thought you'd like the sax thing. Thanks for the advice on the electronic dealie. I had thought of it too, but didn't know which one to go for. I can't wait to hear her play and find out what we can do together!

Mac, we've been majoring in that. It's why we were able to make a commitment so quickly. We are completely open with each other--no secrets and no unpleasant surprises. (We are still pleased to keep finding areas of compatibility and similar tastes.)

I have accepted her as a musician on the same basis on which you have collectively accepted me. She talks the talk, and we clearly have many shared values, musical and otherwise. It's the first time I've had a partner who could knowledgeably point out things about the music we listen to, and even about my own playing. Besides, she laughs at my jokes! cool Clearly a treasure not to be passed up.

My wife and I join to wish the two of you many blessed and happy years ahead of you.

We know what it is like having a common interest of music. It makes life considerably easier when you want to buy equipment or software.

Don't be in a hurry to discover all about each other - a relationship blossoms when at intervals each one digs up another gem from your partner.

Congratulations. Tell her to play a nice fat low A for us. She will understand. And any animals in the neighborhood will vacate, too!

Congratulations to both of you. I hope you have a long and happy marriage.

Notes beat me to the punch about a wind controller. Another wind controller option is the EWI-USB. This may be a good starter wind controller for her due to the fact that it is relatively inexpensive as far as wind controllers go. There are no included sounds but it works with every MIDI soft and hard synth that I have tried it with.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
