Here's a little song for the season... smile

This is called Snow.

All BIAB RTs - recorded and mixed in GarageBand.

Thanks for listening!

Hey Bob,

I kind of miss snow. We rarely get it down here except for a dusting once in a blue moon.

Nice sound.

Bob - I liked your imagery in this one.
"Snow, turns the birds to the south
Turns your words into clouds..."

That was nicely phrased. - floyd

Hello, "rsdean"...

First of all, I have a "thing" for songs composed in 3/4 time, especially at slow tempos. It lends a graceful air, and suggests also (to me, at least) a feeling of circularity, of things returning to their source.

Secondly, I agree with the comments made concerning the imagery conjured up by the lyrics. What you observe about the snow -- "Sinking like a stone / covering his footprints as he makes his way home"..."Turns the birds to the south / turning words into clouds" -- seems mundane at first, until you realize that not all of us pay that kind of attention to such common sights, so the effect is like seeing them for the first time.

I didn't truly appreciate poetry until I started looking into song lyrics more closely. The words in this song blended with the music make it a beautifully bittersweet listening experience.

This is a fine, twilight kind of song.

P.S. The simplicity and the color scheme of your website is very appealing.

Lovely song, it makes snowfall sound nice, as when we were kids.
In my neck of the woods it causes chaos with just an inch or two as it is always described "as the wrong kind of snow"
I much prefer your imagery

Hi Bob,

This is beautiful. The images that you create with these lyrics are so very real, so very believable. As I journeyed through your song, it was almost like I could reach out and touch every picture you painted. The descending bass line in the chorus was a great touch of arrangement.

This is my new Robert Dean favourite.

All the best,
Noel

Very nice job.... Your strength is certainly in crafting lyrics. The secret to good lyric, aside from the rewriting and reducing to the basic essence, is to look at things that everyone else just "sees" and ignores.....

I really like the chorus:
Snow, it keeps coming down Lays a blanket on the ground
Without making a sound Snow, turns the birds to the south
Turns your words into clouds As the breath leaves your mouth
And the silence gets loud

I catch a Tom Waits sort of vibe when you sing.... also mixed with some Dylan....

The solo needs something in there besides the guitar strumming....mandolin or a simple acoustic picking a gentle melody.

I'd rework the ending.... let it resolve to the root. It's just kinda hanging in the air the way it is now.

Herb,

Thanks. Appreciate the listen and review. I was on the fence about the break and the ending, but decided to leave as is. I see your point though.

Thanks again - always good to get different points of view.

Hi, Robert !

I am a little late,due to
computer problems and my
barbershop singing group !:))

Bob, I think this is a vercy nice tune
that could have done well with
some harmony voices too added here
and there ? :))

Cheers

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
