Here's a song I wrote in 1981 (I think). I recently re-discovered it on a piece of paper I had stashed away, I kind of remembered how it went and what I didn't remember (melody), I just re-wrote. grin

This arrangement is probably quite different than I envisioned when I wrote it, but I really like how it turned out.

I'm playing all electric guitar tracks and of course all vocals. RT's I used are below. All comments welcome.

WAIT & SEE

TEMPO:110

I SIT HERE ALONE THINKIN ABOUT LOVE AND DAYS GONE BY

OF HOW WE USED TO LAUGH AND SING AND HOW WE USED TO CRY

OH THAT I COULD ONLY HOLD YOU THE WAY I USED TO DO

I DON'T BELIEVE I'M EVER GONNA FIND ANOTHER QUITE LIKE YOU

TRUE LOVE IT NEVER DIES AND I HOPE YOU REALIZE THAT I'VE LOVED

YOU OH HOW I LOVE YOU

TRUE LOVE IT NEVER ENDS WHEN YOU BELIEVE ITS HEAVEN SENT LIKE I

BELIEVE WE WERE MEANT TO BE / JUST YOU WAIT AND SEE

I CALLED YOU UP JUST TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH IN THE WAY THAT I FEEL

NO ONE GIRL HAS TAKEN YOUR PLACE AND NO ONE EVER WILL

THOUGH I KNOW YOU LIE IN THE ARMS OF SOMEONE OTHER THAN ME

I KEEP HOPIN THAT SOMEDAY SOON YOUR GONNA SEE

TRUE LOVE IT NEVER DIES AND I HOPE YOU REALIZE THAT I'VE LOVED

YOU OH HOW I LOVE YOU

TRUE LOVE IT NEVER ENDS WHEN YOU BELIEVE ITS HEAVEN SENT LIKE I

BELIEVE WE WERE MEANT TO BE / JUST YOU WAIT AND SEE

(RIDE)

WILL YOU EVER WANT ME THE WAY THAT I WANT YOU

TO STEP BACK INTO MY LIFE NO ONE ELSE WILL DO

TRUE LOVE IT NEVER DIES AND I HOPE YOU REALIZE THAT I'VE LOVED

YOU OH HOW I LOVE YOU

TRUE LOVE IT NEVER ENDS WHEN YOU BELIEVE ITS HEAVEN SENT LIKE I

BELIEVE WE WERE MEANT TO BE / JUST YOU WAIT AND SEE (x3)

Greg,

Man! That's got "early 80's pop love song" written all over it!
Everything about it. The guitars, the leads, your vocal. I got a picture of you looking a bit like Duran, Duran... HA!!

Great mix! Everything balanced perfectly. A very enjoyable listen...

Tasty playing from every angle.

Floyd,

Thank you so much. I'm laughing because of the Duran, Duran comment... I probably had more of a .38 Special look going on back then, but one of our bass players had the haircut and bandanna's tied all over and bought a Warlock bass... Funny stuff. laugh I was in my twenty's and in a "happenin" band in the '80's... and man did I have FUN! grin ... The parts I remember anyway? confused

Thanks again,

Greg

Greg, Nice playing and vocals. The mix sounds good. Interesting chord progression. The overall sound transports me back 30 yrs ago. You couldn't have gotten a recording this good back then without the big bucks. Nice job and thanks for posting. It was uplifting. Tom

Nice job....

I dig out the old songwriting notebooks from decades gone by and think I might find a salvageable gem hidden in there every now and then..... so far nada.... just old memories of what I was doing when I wrote it.

I enjoyed the vibe of the tune, and you have some really interesting chord changes in there.

Greg,
Great song and excellent arrangement. Isn't it great when you find gems like this in your old notebooks. I've rescued several songs from my old catalog from the 70s/80s. There like time capsules. Cool stuff.

Excellent,
nice guitar work
I really like the background vocals which you can just hear, I like that "subliminal" effect.

Must dig into my piles of song ideas to see what I have hidden.
I thoroughly enjoyed this song
Thanks for sharing

Tom - Thanks. I have a few songs from the 80's where I came up with an
interesting progression. I didn't have the big bucks back
then (still don't)... I love BIAB!

Herb - Thanks for the listen & taking time to comment.

Guenter - Thank you very much.

Dani - Thank you, I've always been a big fan of Huey Lewis too... We
covered them allot in the 80's.

SD - Thanks for the compliment. I have found other gems from the past,
but this one was really a pleasant surprise.

Alyn - Thanks allot. I did two tracks on my harmony vocals and then
panned them pretty far L & R to get that spread out "subliminal"
effect. wink

Josie - Thanks girl.

Hi Greg,

First off, your production really rang out confident, clear and full in my headphones. What you've put together is up there in the top ten productions I've heard in the forum. Really, really good!

Then I started paying attention to the melody, harmony, lyrics and performance. All are top notch! Wow! This genre was made for you. You sound so incredibly comfortable and natural performing this song.

In a nutshell, I loved it smile

All the best,
Noel

Nice recovery for sure. The deeper I dig into my old stuff the worse it gets! This is an "every thing works" production with cool guitar/vocals and a nice blend of RTs. Much enjoyed it.

+1. Nice work Greg!
It's also inspired me to have a rummage into some old stuff I still have from the 60s!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
