Is there a BIAB manual in PDF so I can read it online?

Hi,

Yes, the PDF manuals are always included in the Band-in-a-Box folder. You can open them from the Help menu | Display manual. Or if you have installed the program on your hard drive you can open them from Start | Programs | Band-in-a-Box... Or, on the BB USB hard drives they are in the PDF Manuals folder.

Hi everyone!

The full pdf manual provided is for version 2013. For 2014, the only content you get (or that I found so far) is related to new features in this latest version. Not very helpful. I do not need the printed manual, but would really appreciate a reference manual for the correct version.

Someone know where to find this full 2014 pdf manual?

Thanks in advance!

Just talked to support staff - the 2014 pdf manual should come out shortly with the next BIAB 2014 upgrade. Let's be patient...

Good move to check with PG Music directly, and then report the answer here. Thank you.

Welcome to the forum! It's great to have a self-starter who no doubt will shortly become someone who helps others here.

The full manual generally has generally not been ready right at the time of release, but comes out a bit after. During beta testing, we look at the New Features guide as that will be of use to most users immediately. For those who are brand-new first time purchasers, I recommend using the videos to get a good overview of the program until the full manual comes out. By experimenting a little first, the manual will make a lot more sense once it is read.

By "next BIAB upgrade" do you mean what's traditionally been the ".5" release? Or are you referring to a possible patch before that time?

FYI -- I was told by Customer Support that the printed manual for BIAB 2014 should be available for order in about a month (for $10).

Now, whether that's just a printed version of what's already available in the Help files now, or whether it's a complete "consolidated", updated manual for BIAB 2014 is another question that I didn't think to ask.

Speaking of one of the regular UpDATES, not "Upgrade$".

I don't know if the full manual will be posted with the very next upgrade posting or not, but I would expect it to be downloadable in one of 'em at some point.

Once the .pdf Full Manual is posted there, I'd also expect the separately ordered and inexpensive Paper Manual of it to be available for those who want the hardcopy as well.

For the most part all of the nuts and bolts that are the 2013 manual apply to 2014 also. The biggest things for 2014 are the new GUI and lots of Real Tracks. There haven't been any major changes in the operation of BIAB. I still enter chords the same way, choose styles the same way and choose Real Tracks the same way. I set the key the same way and set the tempo the same way. The biggest thing is learning everything about the new GUI. Later, Ray

In the past the $10.00 printed manual was just a copy of the help files you have in the program. A lot of repeats from way back when. Someone needs to write and publish the BIAB for Dummies manual!

There's a video series, "Band in a Box for Bozos" available, of course it would not cover the New Release yet. Maybe they will redo them after the new year to update them to the new GUI, but the basic use of features and such remains the same.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
