Back a long time ago there was a band in Chicago called Hound Dog Taylor and the Houserockers. Their sound was built on this raw, loud, loose dragging kind of shuffle. Anyways I got caught up in the fever and was forever infected and this is what happens when you revisit those memories. Hope you like it. Comments/suggestions encouraged.

Get Gone

Grab my Phone and I’m on my way

Ready to stand up to another day

it’s a tough world we live in what will we do from now on

It’s time to come together stand up or get gone

All this fighting all this war

does anyone know what we’re fighting for

no one wants to listen so go ahead and turn the news on

It’s time to come together stand up or get gone

i made it through another working day

The talking heads have all had their say

they change for a while but they never seem to change for too long

It’s time to come together stand up or get gone

Tom,

You just keep topping yourself with each post, man!

Love this. Great write. Simple and solid.

Outta-sight guitar! Absolutely nailed from start to finish. Bass and drums are perfect. The organ could come up a bit. Good vocal.

Great job! 1970? I'm there! Had to listen again! Damn nice guitar playin'!!!! Sweet!

LOVE the avatar! You still playing that guitar?

floyd

Hey Tom, what a great driving sound.

It just made me want to be in that band.

Everything Floyd said and yes, what about that guitar in your avatar?

Tom,

+1 to all Floyd and ROG have said, I too agree the organ could be a little louder but hey it's a guitar song.
It sounds like you had fun playing this!

Don't we look different years ago LOL

Scott, Thanks for listening and commenting.

Gibson & ROG, That picture is from the summer of 1971. The guitar is a 63 Gibson 335 that I traded for a cheap pedal steel a few years later. I kicked myself but in

retrospect it was the right move as the steel turned out to be my cash cow. Thanks for the listen and the comments.

floyd, I brought up the B3 level a bit. I just got a new guitar so I've got to get it broke in. I was in Guitar Center over the holidays and I played every Gibson and Epiphone

in the store. A guy walks in with a guitar case, turns out he was a collector and asks me if I would play his guitar so he could hear how it sounds- he didn't play much. It

turned out to be an Epiphone Elitist Sheraton ( made in Japan with USA electronics) only made about 4 or 5 yrs. It blew away every guitar in the store including the

Gibsons. He decided not sell it after my rave review so I went home and researched and found an Elitist Les Paul online in mint condition. Took a chance and bought it.

One of my better moves. Also Skyline had a song in a recent post and used a plug-in Scuffham Amps. I downloaded the trial and have finally found what I was looking for

in a direct recording amp. I haven't tried the steel on it yet but I have high hopes. Thanks for your kind words. When we have that beer it better be a tall one cause you

and I have more stories than the Grimm Brothers.

Wow!!! Man, if we could just flip on the FM and hear stuff like this now days. The loosey goosey shuffle feel is perfect. Like Rog said "I'd like to be in that band." Did I mention the great lead guitar, vocal and lyrics. This is the total package. Gonna send a link of this to Janice's rocker brother who's a great guitar player and vocalist. He's my age and will love this.

Hi Tommy
Another great song. I love the old fashioned bluesy Shuffle Rock. It put bread on our table in the late 60's to early 70's.
I really enjoyed the long Lead break.
cheers

Tom...

If this ain't good...nothin' is! Had to listen a couple of times. I love Shuffle Blues and this is one of the best I have heard...not lately...but ever!!!!!!

I'm a guitarist by trade and I smiled all the way through this one. great touch...super sweet! Multiple kudos headed your way. Totally loved it! When Di wakes up from her nap, I'll have her listen, too.

I've got a Chicago style Blues number I did a while back. Listening to this makes me want to post it. I'll do that in a few days...this one deserves the Blues Stage by itself. I'll go find something else to post here in a little while.

I'm still smiling as I listen again!

Bud, Thanks for commenting on this one. That loose feel could only be accomplished by laying back a tad on the beat with the rhythm guitar. The drums and the bass are too tight in BIAB. Some drummers I've worked with never grasped the concept. I'm glad you listened.

Dani, 1971. I haven't changed all that much. LOL

SD, Thanks for the listen.

Ian, Thanks for the comments, Cool avatar. Tom

Bob, I thought you might like the groove. Thanks

Eric, Thanks for the listen and the comments.

Al, That's high praise from a guitarist as accomplished as you. I really appreciate it! Tom

That's what I'm talkin' about. Nice work Tommy. And thanks for reminding me of Hound Dog. Dude had six fingers on his left hand! eek

1971 you say? I vaguely remember that year. grin

Hey Tom,

I don't know how you manage to write, perform and mix so many songs at such a high standard so quickly!!!! I need to get some lessons on productivity and quality from you. This is sensational! the 4 minutes disappeared real quick and I was left wanting more. That says it all.

I really liked the 'live performance' touch, too.

Regards,
Noel

Bob, You're right. He had six fingers. The funny thing is most of the time he played slide. Thanks for listening.

Josie, Thanks for the comments. The pictures are kinda fun.

Noel, Thanks for bringing this back up for a listen. I always eagerly await your comments. Tom

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
