Dear Forum Friends,
Happy New Year to all! I'm glad to be able to share with you my first tune for the new year called "Play it Again."
Last summer, based on your recommendation, I took the Berklee School of Music Songwriting course online. This song was one of two I wrote for the course.
Although, I don't consider it autobiographical, it's about folks like us who keep playing and singing throughout their lives. I hope you enjoy "Play it Again"

Hi Spacedog,

nice song. I like your
down-to-earth piano playing.
Happy New Year to you, too.

Scott C,
Thanks. Glad you liked it.

Guenter,
Thanks for listening. I'm just a simple piano player trying to get better. BTW, I used to live Heidelberg.

Josie,
Thanks. I really appreciate your comments on the vocals.

Al&Di,
Thanks for your kind words. I like to use the delayed drum entry to emphasize the other rhythm instruments.

Dani,
Thanks for listening. What's a "bshopper"? or am being obtuse again?

Hi, SD !

A bshopper is a barbershop singing guy or gal !

I thought you might be interested
as you have a voice that could go quite
well in that genré ?

Cheers
Dani

Hi Spacedog,

What a great song!

I've been to a couple of seminars with Stephen Weber from Berklee and his theory about choruses is that they should be simple, memorable and able to take on whatever shades of meaning a verse dictates. Steve's bottom line is that listeners should be able to sing the chorus after having heard it once. With this song, you've shown us all how to write a very effective chorus and one that I feel Stephen Weber would be holding up as a model!

I'm going back to listen again, now smile

All the best,
Noel

I agree with everything that has been already said especially the parts about your vocals and piano playing. I will add that I also thought the mix was top notch.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Janice & Bud,
Thanks for your kind comments. I'm glad you liked it.

Dani,
Oh, Barbershop. I used to sing in the chorus when I was in school and was glad to have a whole group of baritone voices to sing along with. Must be scary to be the only one singing a particular part. Maybe I'll try it some day. Thanks. Take care.

Noel,
Thanks. What a nice thing to say. The song got a good "grade" from the students evaluators. I guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. I'm going to look up Stephen Weber to see what I can learn from him. Thanks.

Floyd,
Thanks for listening and your kind comments.

Mario,
Thanks for your comment on the mixing. I've been working on those skills. It's good to hear I'm making noticeable progress.

Best Wishes to all
SD

This is the kind of song I like. Straight forward and genuine, the right length, with a pleasing melody with a good vocal.

Hi SD
Nice listen, I liked the build and the bridge. Worked well. Some of the drum fills were really perfectly placed.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
