I am recording a bass line from my Juno synth on track 3. When I am done, it asks me if I want to save the MIDI on track 48. No audio records on track 3. Also, if I record 2 bars, the first bar repeats itself on bar one! Help appreciated!

If it asks to keep MIDI and doesn't keep audio, I'd guess you either don't have an audio connection from the Line Out of the Juno to the computer, or you have the wrong input audio device selected in Options-Preferences-audio tab-Divers button .. so the system isn't receiving the audio signal.

Do you see a signal on the PT VU meters for input? If not it probably won't be able to record one.

That part sounds like you've got a MIDI Loopback hooked up. This could be with cables, or could be with software, such as MIDI Echo On command somewhere.

What exactly are your connections from that thing to the computer?

List them all, where they come from and where they go to.

Checked the preferences, audio. ASIO. Is available and drivers are there. There is no input signal on the vU meter when I try to record a track. There is an output signal on that VU meter, and I can hear what I'm playing.also checked midi devices and those are all there. This just started happening without my changing anything ( that I am aware of...). Continued help appreciated!

Juno keyboard is plugged directly into PC via USB cable.

USB cable setup like that usually carry midi signal. Do you have a synth assigned to that track? If you want to send audio to PWT could use an audio cable.

Never mind i was having a glitchey moment, and did not read the post properly

Rob, I think you were right; he wants to record audio. That's why he is looking at the VU input meter. It doesn't show MIDI in it shows audio in.

If he sees it on the out and not in, he likely doesn't have audio connection from synth to computer set up correctly, or has the wrong audio input device selected.
If RB asks to keep the MIDI then it recorded the MIDI just fine.
If RB shows the out put VU (and not input VU) he is likely triggering a softsynth via the MIDI In.

OP-
"No audio records on track 3"
and
"There is no input signal on the vU meter when I try to record a track. There is an output signal on that VU meter, and I can hear what I'm playing"

I don't know of any Juno boards that send audio over the USB cable. They can often transfer wav files and samples back and forth with the computer, as well as be used for MIDI, but not to send streaming audio.

If USB is the only connection from Juno to computer, then only MIDI is getting to the computer. Streaming Audio won't be available via that connect.

To record the Audio of the Juno along with the MIDI, you must connect Stereo L and R Audio Outputs of Juno to L and R Audio Line Inputs of the sound device on the computer, then "arm" that input for Recording in PT. *This is for when you want to have the actual sounds the Juno makes in the recording*

If you are wishing to just use the Juno as a Controller and some sort of Softsynth as the MIDI sounds, then the USB by itself is all you need for that, Record the MIDI data to a MIDI track and then invoke the Softsynth and Patch desired on that track for playback.

Thanks for all the help! I figured it out based on Mac's input. There is an audio out on the Juno in the form of a headphone jack. I had forgotten that I unplugged the cable over the holidays and plugged in headphones so the kids could plunk around without disturbing us! Plugged the audio cable back in and viola!
Thanks again - Bernier

This is a silly newbie question but I am sorry!! I don't see how to arm a track to record audio in Realband. I see no inputs listed with a rmb click I see no inputs listed in the console. Is RB that different than Sonar or Protools? I have not been able to record any vocals and get RB to recognize input. It works in other sequencing packages but Real band is not showing it.

Tracks View, Select a Track such that its track number turns red, then hit the big Red "Record" Button in the Transport toolbar.

Select desired blank track
Right-click just below the track name
select Track Type from the options
Change to stereo or mono audio (depending on the need)
Go to Options-Preferences-Audio tab
Click the Drivers button
Select the desired audio input device
Make sure it is the only one highlighted so you only record that device.

Alternately there is a way to select audio as the default Track type (so empty tracks are all audio tracks as a default) in the above mentioned Preferences area. It may be on a different tab, maybe not.

Hi Methodman

This question might get better response if you Post it on the Real Band Forum page

RealBand and PT work identically in this respect.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
