This simple melody got stuck in my head and clogged up my ability to move on to the next one. So I had to get this out of my system to move forward. A while back I posted a song called It's Too Late with these same instruments. It's hard to catch lightning in a bottle twice, but it's fun to try. The tricky part on this was trying to mix three separate drum sets at the same time. That's a lot of low end. I don't quite know the genre but who cares. Mixing these things together is just one of the many beautiful things about BIAB. All comments/suggestions are welcome as usual. Happy new year to all my friends here on the forum. Tom

I'm Going Crazy

been havin trouble sleeping i’ve been up all night

where’s that pain pill I’ve been keeping feel like I’ve been in a fight

your face is like a portrait painted in my brain

it’s a welcome distraction from my personal pain

baby, I think I’m going crazy and i’m wondering what to do

i’m goin crazy over you

baby, I think I’m going crazy I know one thing that’s true

i’m goin crazy over you

I misunderstood what I thought was infatuation

I caught up in it good now I’ve got a situation

I’m tripping on confusion such a tangled mess

A helpless romantic yeah I must confess

baby, I think I’m going crazy and i’m wondering what to do

i’m goin crazy over you

baby, I think I’m going crazy I know one thing that’s true

i’m goin crazy over you

Amazing set of lyrics, and the melody is superb. Maybe just me but the solo horn does not seem to fit. Thanks for sharing!

Cool vocal and lyrics with a nice crispy mix. Just a nice laid back feel all the way around -- in a good way. Makes me think of JJ Cale (whom I miss a lot).

I like the horn. You could consider having it sneak in a little fill now and then twixt vocal phrases. No big deal. It works just fine as is I just wanted to hear it a bit more.

Hey, I'm glad you decided to get it outa the way and posted it. We much enjoyed it!

Hi Tommy...

We just got back from Christmas travels a few hours ago and trying to catch up on some good listens. And this is a danged good one! Wow, we loved it from first note to the last. Simple yet has everything it needs. the lyric is great, the vocal superb and the arrangement is killer! I (Al) love playing with genres and mixing them, or at least elements of them, just to see what happens.

Ya did a great job...hat's off to ya! Have a great 2014...

Tom,

I like this. A lyric with some interesting stuff happening - tight and thought-provoking. And a very catchy, singable chorus.

Really like the chord pattern in the chorus - but wanted to hear it with some crisp electrics instead of the acoustics. And the drums are timid. Feels like they could be much more a part of this. The intro was cool...

You are impressing me more all the time...

Hey Tommy,

I like the song, lyrics and melody. Your voice sounds really good on it and the mix is nice, clean and clear here.

One nit. The beginning musical phrases of those sax runs don't fit. Once the sax gets going it's okay but those opening horn phrases don't sound right with the rest of the music and really stick out to me not in a good way.

Happy New Year with lots more Tommy music. smile

Josie

floyd, I know you are right about the drum level. i was having quite a bit of trouble mixing them and finally decided to just pull them back. The idea of the electrics is a good one. Thanks, Tom

Josie, When I go back and revisit this one I will take a long look at those sax parts. Maybe they just don't fit the song. Thanks, Tom

Tommy,
I enjoyed everything about that. I am on the fence about the sax but at 3.20ish I went YEH and immediately thought of Lisa Simpson in the opening credits to the Simpsons. BRILLIANT reference if intended LOL

I agree but that is what the band that is BIAB is all about!

Hi Tommy,

I nearly missed this one. I'm glad I didn't.

In my mind, it was so easy to picture you on stage playing your guitar and singing this. Once again, your lyrics ring with honesty and believability. They really pulled me into your song. My favourite line was "trippin' on confusion, a tangled mess".

I really enjoyed this one.

All the best,
Noel

Bob, Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.

Alyn, Of Course I was thinking of Lisa Simpson. LOL. Thanks for the comments.

Noel, I am always glad to hear your remarks. I am writing so much these days, if I attempted to play any of these on stage I would have to go back and relearn them. Thanks for checking in on this one. Tom

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
