Hi all, I'm Jools from Kent UK.
I recently bought BIAB/Realband to help make some jazz backing tracks with for my sax.
So the learning curve begins!.
This is a folky/country fiddle instrumental I've been playing around with. It's based on the BANJBAL demo with some 624 fiddle soloist added, then opened in Realband so I could start to see how things work.

Or, youtube link if you fancy looking at some gorgeous Celtic landscape shots of Britain and Ireland while you listen (or just turn the sound down !).

Cheers

Jools,

Welcome! That's a heck of a start! Very nice mix on that.

A bit lengthy for a single instrument instrumental... Ending around the 3-minute mark might be a good length...

Nice job. Keep it up...

Thanks Floyd.

You're right, it does go on a bit grin .

It was really an exersize in finding my way around Realband, but I might do a shorter version.

Hi Jools
Loved your song. Excellent playing. I also enjoy listening to another "Jools" in the UK. I get Jools Holland "Later" on satellite tv. Lot of great talent over there....

Jools,

Learning curve? I know what you mean, but I'm thinking you've already gone around the bend:) Very polished for your first BB post.

Lovely production. Welcome.

Jools,

Welcome to the forum and to the wonderful world of PG Music!

Wonderful first effort. Nice production and mixing. A little lengthy but I completely understand why; once the groove strikes it makes you want to fully explore the possibilities.

I found the comment you used both BIAB & RealBand to produce the song interesting. Many forum members use standalone daws for part of their production and use RealBand for specific features. Nice to know you "test drove" both programs.

Hi Jim & Pat, thanks for the welcome.

Pat - they are excellent. I had BIAB back in 2001, and found it a useful tool for learning songs & practicing scales/modes etc., but wasn't too keen with the sounds out of my sound module.
Realband is in a completely different class!. I didn't expect it to be this good.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
