Hello everyone,

Our new song this week is:

For love (lullaby)

It's a short song with a combination of talking and singing. The song was composed in Band in a Box. Next we entered the chords into Songsmith and used the 'Float 1' style (which is probably also present in the Ultra Plus Pak). The Garritan sfz's in Songsmith gave the style the timbre it needed for this song.
All Songsmith styles are fully compatible with BIAB since PG music created them.
(Additionally: not all BIAB styles are fully compatible with Songsmith, however most of them are).

Lyrics:

baby won't you play
that old song for me
maybe just to know
if it's still there

to hear those words
just one more time
to feel those rhymes
coming over me

because it took me all I had
it tore my world apart
it brought me live
then took it away again
for love, for love.

Hope you like it, any comments are welcome
regards,
R & AM

Think the reading with echo sets the lovely vocal up beautifully. Imaginative video. Seagull soaring. A very enjoyable production. Cheers.

Boy, you guys are prolific! You manage to post a quality production every week (video to boot). Are you independently wealthy or retired? This is another very nice piece. Very sweet vocal, and great falsetto (perfect tone and control)! Thanks for another treat. Take care. Greg

Very nice. I like the string pads etc. laying down a nice bed for the song to ride over.

Hi Greg,

Thank you!
Well, this song was kind of "a bold song",especially for the talking part. Reading lyrics aloud in a song is one of the hardest things to do, we experienced.
We are not retired, but almost wink , not wealthy either, otherwise we would have purchased the Biab Audiophile edition laugh

R & AM

Thanks Richmac, Josie, Greg, Patrick, Mike, Alan & Di, Guenter, Charlie, Floyd, Dani, and Tommy for your nice comments.

They are much appreciated!

Question:
does any of you happen to have the audiophile edition?
We were wondering about the difference in quality compared to the
"normal" wma edition.

R & AM

beautiful falsetto! I take it that this was a bit of a production experiment? Very engaging. I like the male/female play on the lyrics... the two sided coin

much enjoyed!

Gosh. Your work is so consistently excellent it's difficult to keep coming up with accolades. What a wonderful problem to have.

Good sound choices. Songsmith is an interesting experiment. I downloaded it but haven't explored it. Your vocal performaces contrast and highlight each other well. A good listen as always.

Hello Lawrence,

thank you, yes it was a bit of an experiment. Starting a song with a "speaking" part is always kind of risky (and kind of 80s, ha ha).
Eventually it became a song about a song.

R & AM

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your nice comments (again). The songsmith program really is a great addition to BIAB. Just sing something into the microphone and the program will create an arrangement. Chord recognition isn't always that perfect, but then again this will create some unexpected, and sometimes useful ideas. Great for songwriting!
The styles of both programs are interchangeable most of the time, especially the MIDI styles.
You probably downloaded the demo? This will only give you six hours of use. But the full version isn't all that expensive. You can copy all your BIAB styles to the songsmith styles folder. Next you can run all the styles in songsmith, to see which ones work. In our case (ultra pluspak) about 85% of the styles.

Regards,
R & AM

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
