Sorry if this is a repeat post, I am having connection problems
When I install 2014/381 over 2014/380 or install the April 2014 RT patch over 380 I get the above msg when I try to renew the Stylepicker list. BIAB is then frozen and will not even shut down normally. The msg tells me to delete bbw.lsw and try again but this make no difference. Everything is fine using build 380 and if I don't try to install the RT patch.
Any ideas?

I ran into this exact same thing last week when restoring my desktop. Somehow I duplicated some styles in my massive 15 year old style collection and wound up with over 6,700 styles and the program crashed and got in the same loop you are describing. Once I found the problem and got rid of the duplicated styles, BIAB rebuilt the style list correctly. My current style listing is 5,703 styles.
As in earlier versions of BIAB, there is a limit but I don't know what the current limit is. All I know is that I have no problems with my 5700+ styles at this time.
I am on the latest build.

It's been years, but I thought Peter Gannon took this limit up to 10,000?

Thanks for the responses
I have 3368 styles so that shouldn't be the problem. In any case why does it happen when I upgrade from build 380 to 381?
BTW tech support couldn't solve the problem for me.

Did you already try Opt., Return to Factory Settings?

Thanks Matt, yes I tried "return to factory settings"
I re-installed my original 2014 program download then tried adding each new build one at a time (I have them saved separately) Then I tested the style picker after each new build. Everything works fine until I install 381 (or the RT patch download) then the Stylepicker starts to act up.

I am resurrecting this older thread because I have discovered what was causing the problem and learned a lot about Stylepicker in the process.
The limit in Stylepicker is 20,000 (confirmed by PG tech support) but in practise that isn't the number of actual sty files you have in the C:/bb folder because you reach the limit sooner due to multiple listing of the same style. Each time a style is listed under a different heading it counts as an extra entry as determined by the BBW.lst file and and any ls3 files for third party styles in the C:/bb folder.
I had 5985 actual styles but many more entries because of multiple ls3 files, some of which came with third party styles I had downloaded and some I created in an attempt to make Stylepicker easier to navigate. When I eliminated some of the ls3 files, the problem immediately disappeared. I now have 5985 actual styles and 11,774 Stylepicker entries - this second number appears at the top right corner of the Stylepicker window.
I still don't know why this problem only appeared when I tried to load any 2014 patch above #380 but perhaps there is something in the patch that just pushed me beyond Stylepicker's 20,000 entry limit.
I wonder if anyone has approached 20,000 entries as shown in the Stylepicker window, without getting problems?

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
