Thanks for commenting (and love the Mr. Magoo!)

Yeah, it's ironic that I wrote a tune that is not necessarily the best for my voice. In theory, my range is sufficient for this tune. But here's the deal: If I want to sing with more resonance and volume, I can throughout the entire range, but, if I want to sing softly and more emotively, there is a spot in which my voice breaks when shifting registers. I had worked through it some time back with a vocal instructor, when I was giggin' more, but without the gigging and singing more, my transitions between registers has suffered. This song, the way written is a little over an octave and a half. I could do the entire song in one octave, but then it loses dynamics in my opinion. Depending on the time of day and how much I'm practicing, I might find something a wee bit more comfy. The beauty of BIAB is that playing with new keys is really easy to do. This key was the best combo for me thus far.

Great question, thanks for asking and thanks for listening!

Sorry about putting the melody in your mind...
Not really ;-)

Plish,

What an nice song, and I agree with the Willie Nelson vibe.

Acid Pro eh, I have Acid 6 sitting all forlorn on my computer and I am going to experiment with splicing and dicing now. May take me a while tho' to achieve your standard!!!

thoroughly enjoyed

Alyn

Hi Alyn, Thanks for listening and the kind words.

Yeah, I find Acid a really nice fit for BIAB because of its ability to slice, dice, stretch, etc. Have fun!!!

Thanks again!

Hi Mike,

Nothing like a good country waltz! When I lived in San Antonio back in the 79's, we played songs like this ad nauseum! But you rarely hear songs like this these days. This is nice refresher!

And this is better than the danged song that's been playing in my head the past week. So thank you for this worthyu replacement!

Alan

PS: The song that's been playing in my mind is a Christmas song, of all things ... "Deck the Halls". No idea why that one ... ???? Ha!

Hello plish,

Very nice song! I take it that was quite some work to get everything in the right rhythm.
Nicely sung and with emotion.

Regards,
Rob

Plish,
Very nice tune. I really like the arrangement.
Thanks for sharing.
I was wondering if you've heard from her. I sure hope she appreciated having a song written for her.

Hi Rob!

Yeah, it was tedious at times - I would splice and bring things together and then eliminate stuff to create more space. Amazing what havoc a missing quarter note can create in a measure wink

Appreciate the kudos!!

All the best!

Hi SD!

Actually no. We lost track of each other for many years. I did recently find her - she's still in Texas. I need to reconnect and send the song her way - I'm sure she'd get a kick out of it!

Thanks again for listening and the kudos!

Hi Michael,

What a very clever idea to write a song based around a pun on the word/name Melody! A touch of songwriting genius in my book. I'd love to be able to come up with hooks like that but all I can do is admire from afar. I'm impressed.

I have to say that I'm a fan of the way you've assembled this waltz. You've done a great job. Kudos to you!

Regards,
Noel

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
