Quappen

Hi all,
before my retirement I used to be a secondary school teacher.
From 1990 to 1993 I was delegated to an elementary school.
There I had to teach (among some other subjects) general knowledge.
1991 one of our topics was "tadpoles". So we got some spawn from a puddle and put
it into a fish tank. For some weeks I filmed the development every day with a close-up lens until the frogs were in their final stage. Then we released them. Unfortunately one of the young ones jumped into the mouth of a big fat adult.
The music I made as a soundtrack was all handmade. I played everything on my keyboard including the drums and percussion.
Last Sunday my "rental daughter" (daughter of my girlfriend) who is an elementary school teacher asked me if I had a digital copy of the film to show it to her class. So I digitized the video cassette. (I'm afraid I couldn't avoid some dropouts).
As I heard the 23 year old music I thought I could beef it up a little bit with Realtracks. And here is what came out.
Realtracks used:
RT1061 Sax, Soprano, Solist SmoothJazz-Ballade Ev16
RT1167 Gitarre, Elektro, Solist RockBallade Brent Ev
RT1441_Sax,Alto,Sol,JzFnkGrvnEv110
The title comes from the German word "Kaulquappen" which means tadpoles.
So a translation would be "Poles".
I suggest to watch the complete film (about 11 minutes). Aside from the music it's really interesting and I'm sure most of you have never seen anything like that before.
Find out that tadpoles are cannibals.

Enjoy.

Hi, Guenter !

I must say that both film and
music are absolutely stunning !:))
That sublime eerie sound could very well
have been a main feature in a
science fiction film as well !:))

Cheers

Guenter,

As Dani said the film and the music are amazing.

What a good teacher you must have been to have even thought of doing a video.

thanks for sharing

Mesmerizing.....had I to do it all over again I would have gotten degrees in biology (rather than psychology) so I find this particularly fascinating. Janice and I always marvel at the different stages of tadpoles as we walk a creek on our homestead and paddle on a local river. We have a variety of frogs and a toad so we get to see different types of tadpoles.

This production is simply amazing. The audio track is PERFECT for the video. Your students were lucky, indeed. Thanks for doing this and bringing it to all of us.

Again, mesmerizing.

A BIG +1

This is a very interesting film and your sound track matches it perfectly.

Guenter, great video, great music, great everything.

What a wonderful demonstration of evolution and metamorphosis

Your students should be very pleased with your efforts to capture this evolving process.

Most importantly, the existence of frogs are a great indicator of a healthy environment

Well done, and thanks for putting this presentation together

This is a very cool video! The transformation from tadpole to frog is such a fascinating thing.
The music is very well done!

Very cool. I had an aquarium somewhere along the line as a kid and used to catch 'em and watch that entire process. Fascinating stuff. I enjoyed your video quite a bit! Thanks.

Guenter,

Fascinating!

Your score evolved with your frogs! The strings were well played throughout. The bass lines were terrific! - did you play that with a bass guitar or on a keyboard (it had a guitar feel). The incorporation of BIAB into an existing piece were seamless...

Enjoyable look and listen!

Hi Rob & Anne-Marie, Patrick, SpaceDog and Floyd,

thanks a lot for your nice comments.

@Floyd: Everything was played on a keyboard.
I haven't played a real bass guitar since 1980, when I started using samples. It's nice when it has a guitar feel.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
