HI BOYS AND GIRLS! - such a warm return welcome. I want to thank my ol' bud Dani (from the country whose educational system is considered tops in the world and getting a lot of media attention here), Al and Di (who are writing novels too? - wow!), my man MarioD (who has a tremendous track up now), omni-musician Guenter, piano man Trevor, heavy hitters Janice and Bud, Josie C, and Josie Sundance (I thought that Coolmeister is one of the most amazing compliments I've ever received, whether it's true or not). Greg Johnson gave a very warm reception, as did ... last but never least, Floyd, who triggered an idea for this post.

First, however, I want to explain something that Alyn commented on. sick The Zombies mad . Hey - originally, I was going to use this title:

......................................ALIENS REVEAL MIRACLE DIET!!

but the happiness connection didn't seem clear enough. Obviously, I'm shamelessly willing to use any title I can to get listeners. After all, you were curious, no?

Speaking of heavy hitters, Floyd made a reference to a cat in his greeting. Now, as you all know, the cat doesn't come alone. I'm not talking about what the cat might be dragging in. There's something that's as closely attached to it as its tail, something so unique that it's been adopted for well known commercial use. I'm talking about my all RealBand version of

.....................................................CATWALK

HI Dean ...

WooHoo ... we're loving the energy in this! And that's some mighty fine fretwork. And that bass line is killer! This is beyond cool ... so much talent on display in this one. Do wish your guitar work was just a tad louder in the mix.

We always love Latin percussion and that Latin piano is super, too. Not a thing not to like here. Great stuff!

Dean! Powerful, sensational playing, great dynamics and variation throughout. Full of surprises that one. Up to your usual high standards.

Really enjoyed the lively mix, great blend of Latin and polyrythms, and went out with a bang too.

Thanks

Trevor

Dean this is super great Latin funk jazz!

Man you have great chops! Super composition and mix here IMHO.

This is a keeper!

Floyd and Guenter: I just knew I couldn't casually sneak those horns past the likes of you two. My text intro to Catwalk had gotten too long, so I figured I'd wait for the inevitable and then respond.

This summer I had - hang on for it - one actual gig ! I hope I spelled it right, it's been that long. One tune in a concert of many performers. Catwalk has a fearsome rep as a crowd-pleaser, so I suggested to my buds, "Yeah, let's do that one."

In order to recreate the tune for the Forum, I had Eddie Street (ts), Joe Sarno (tpt), Ron Brown (tb) and Willie Gomes (lp) record their parts in a garage (acoustics not so good). I couldn't coordinate with the others so I redid the piano and bass parts myself. The guitar solo is pretty much what I played at the concert.

The drums are a combination of several RD's with a lot of editing to get the syncopation, swinging, rock and latin parts positioned correctly.

After a brief, futile effort to get BIAB to cope with it, I gave up and decided to work on just the RealDrums. All the trial and error took the most time, but I'm just as interested in finding tunes that BIAB can't handle as the ones that it can.

Once again, I'm really glad you liked it!

Just smokin' all the way through with "on fire" guitar, indeed.

Great mix. Man, we'd get out the wallet to hear a set of that stuff.

Enjoyed the back story also.

I would have liked to have been at the gig, man.

You must spend a long time slicing and dicing the Real Drums to achieve this.

+1 for all the other comments

Alyn,

I couldn't have said it better myself. Slicin' 'n' dicin' them drums ... for hours. Luckily, I like doing that kind of stuff. And I'm glad you liked CATWALK.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
