I'm a big believer in Occam's Razor. Those of you who don't know about that, it works like this: The Razor cuts through all the bs down to the most simple, basic concept of any problem or argument. The most simple answer is usually the correct one. Here it is:

We have a private forum, you have your house.

The forum invites people in for discussions.

You invite people over for a party.

Someone starts ranting on the forum in an inappropriate manner.

Someone starts arguing with your other guests in an inappropriate manner.

The forum throws the bum out.

You throw the bum out.

Who makes that decision? You do.

Doesn't matter what the original post was. Doesn't matter what we think or what your other guests think.

The Razor wins again.

Bob

“Someone starts ranting on the forum in an inappropriate manner.”

Bob,

Did you actually see the deleted post? I did. It was not a “rant”, or inappropriate in any way. It was a rather innocuous statement of minor frustration by an Audiophile member of over 12 years, who BTW, has been an avid supporter of PG, and even links to PG from his website.

I believe that the deletion was probably done by an over-zealous mod, and does not reflect PG's liberal policies. The reaction to it, however, is more disturbing. Really no reason to pull the wagons into a circle.

You are obviously not likely to lighten up, so I will forgo the meager attempt at humor. Suffice it to say that nothing was written that justified deletion of the post; and I do know whose house this is.

Regards,

Bob

Of course the Mods pull down anything which they think may damage sales. Why should we expect anything else? It's just the way the world works.

Since when did we start believing everything we read in the newspapers, or see in adverts, or hear in speeches by politicians?

Perhaps you think I'm just a cynic, but I prefer realist.

ROG, old mate, you are being way too practical. Life holds
severe penalties for that. (sans lol)

What intrigues me is how folks who never, or rarely, have anything positive to contribute to these forums, will crawl out from their holes, en-mass at PG Bashing time. Some never have a positive contribution to anything within their entire sphere of influence. Would we want any of them at the helm of PG when they only have one oar in the water? Not I!

Exit stage right...

Hey Don, I've had worse than that!

It's just that I've learnt to accept what I can't change and I'm much happier that way. Stress is the biggest killer of all.

You take care now my old Irish pal.

I was worried about this thread for a while, then I realised that its good and healthy as there are some strong opinions here, all expressed in friendship

Do you guys over the pond know Victor Meldrew? TV series? Or the BBC "grumpy old men" series

ROG, FYI, Hayley Oliver auditioned an entirely NEW BAND last Sunday. She says it gives her "...a whole new sound!" I strongly think she's gearing up to win BCMA's Best Female Vocalist Award this year, her fourth consecutive nomination. Hopefully, we'll get a brand new album before the awards ceremony which I believe is in November.

I detected something very special in this little blind Brit girl within hearing a few notes of her unique voice...somewhat juvenile yet very pleasant and endearing.

I'm hoping for a win.

Later, Gatorade.

I have Benny Hill; Faulty Towers; from Brit TV and hundreds of episodes of Brit comedy from Old Time Radio (OTR). It's knee-slapping, rapid-fire hilarious!

There is a comedy series on OTR (forgot name) that sounds like a knock-off of Monty Python, simply wonderful.

IIRC, Monty Python is still under BBC Copyright protection in Canada and The Colonies.

Did you read the post in question, ROG? The one that "disappeared"?

There was nothing in it that would possibly 'damage' sales. I've said much worse in some of my own rants, and they were not deleted.

Guys, stop. There has been a development. An investigation is ongoing. There may be an explanation we have not considered. Stay tuned and I will report the findings as soon as they are confirmed.

I'll personally take charge of the dispensation of aluminum foil hats.

For those who don't already have their own, please PM me with your hat size and mailing address.

For those who require a heavy duty aluminum foil hat, a $1.00 surcharge will apply.

Remember that just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you. wink

My family always says, "...you are such a drama king".

OK, so one of the two deleted files has reappeared. Here it is:

http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=262275#Post262407

an investigation had been initiated by one of our finest forum members and his search yielded "part of the thread, but not all of it", So while the actual post which disappeared (Post 252407) has been found, the subsequent discussion after that post is now AWOL.

We have a working hypothesis which I don't want to immediately divulge until it can be proven. However, just in case it goes bad for me, I am soliciting recipes for crow - tender and Cajun if possible.

Marinate crow in buttermilk for 24 hours. Remove crow from buttermilk and liberally coat in cajun seasoning.

Preheat oven to 275 deg. Place crow in oven bag and pour in 1/2 bottle Sweet Baby Rays classic BBQ sauce.

Bake for 2-1/2 hours. Let crow rest in baking bag for 15 minutes.

Serve with fresh cole slaw and baked beans.

Enjoy!

Bobert,

My Dad had an elaborate recipe, similar to yours, that called for the crow to be prepared on an oak plank of specific dimensions.

After very detailed directions the chef is finally instructed to throw away the crow and eat the plank!

I suspect that yours is a Southeastern relative.

Don,

It is indeed a southeastern alternative. The good thing is, it actually works really well for chicken too!

Plus you get to eat the chicken instead of the plank. It's actually really tasty!

Jazzmandan,
Viewing your evidence I would suspect that in this case deleted threads are still showing up in search results .. the thread is probably only marked as deleted (not actually gone). So the DB search is still finding the match.

Just a hunch (based on personal experience)
If I understand correctly

One theory is there is a ghost in the machine and this whole issue is just some snafu with the web site. This is similar to your suggestion.

Still investigating.

Hi guys,

That thread doesn't appear to be deleted at all, it's just a bit old (last post was Sept 14th) and is now on page 3 of the Band-in-a-Box forum. smile

I didn't see the thread when it was new so don't know for sure if any of the posts are missing, but the thread itself is definitely intact, and isn't locked.

Cheers

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
