Hello everyone,

A couple of weeks ago we went to London for a week.
We also visited Camden town. This part of London we liked best.
The atmosphere, the people, the shops. All of this kinda reminded us of...... Holland, in a way. Only a little bit more extravagant.
Anne-Marie had brought her camera. Recorded lots of footage, very suitable for our new song:

Camden town (never give up on love)

She also created the video.
This must be our most comprehensive production so far. The entire project consists of 19 tracks. Rob created this arrangement with 6 real tracks, 1 user track, 2 vsti tracks and 4 MIDI (soundfont) tracks, and an additional reversed cymbal track. And then there was the original Camden town audio intro.
The vocals: Rob:1 lead, Anne-Marie 3 backing vocal tracks. Every one of them has about 6 vst effects inserted. The entire mix was mastered with Cakewalk's Z3ta synthesizer, which is also a very good Vst mastering plug-in.

We hope you like it! As always, any comments are welcome.

Regards,
Rob & Anne-Marie

Song specifics:
Key=G , Tempo 95, Length (m:s)=4:10
Style is ALANIS1.STY (Alanis 1 - Med. Arena Rock)
MIDI Instruments: Finger Electric Bass (34), 6/4 EP Phase, GM2 Bank 4, Acoustic Piano (1), Strings (49),

Lyrics:

Camden town

I wasn't looking, not really there
I had to find my way,
out of things we used to share
no one to look up to, no one to find
and when I looked around,
I found myself in Camden town

colorful people, hanging around
someone singing Marley,
while another's playing guitar
colors cought my eye, of the funny shop displays
shop owners are waving,
trying to get me in

no fear of losing anything
or fear of loving anyone

never give up on love

I was her lover, I was her friend
no one else got through
didn't know what else to do
I wouldn't see it coming, I couldn't see her go
till she turned to me and said
you know all love must end

you were excessive, in any way
and when our eyes met
there was nothing to be said
then you walked up to me, and as I came down
DJ Granddad waved
I found new love in Camden town

no fear of losing love again
or fear of giving in again

never give up on love

no fear of losing anything
or fear of loving anyone

never give up on love

Rob and Anne Marie,

Wonderful song for 2 reasons, the beautiful tune and the pictures of Camden Town, a district, NW1, I lived in from 1968 - 76 and worked, a few doors from Camden Market, from 1975-1980 How the memories flow now!! It has changed a bit LOL.

You 2 are certainly productive and each song I hear is pure magic, nice chord changes.

Z3ta as a mastering suite eh??? must look into my old copy later.

Thanks for sharing as I really enjoyed the song and the video.
Now back to my memories of a good period in my life grin

Alyn

ps I must dig out a song written in Camden to follow!!!

Really enjoyed the song. The accompanying video clip just made it that much better.

What great song ... and video! Loved that short, one-line prechorus. The vocal harmonies were fabulous. Great production and presentation. Thanks for such a wonderful listen ... we're still smiling! Kudos!!!

Hi Alyn,

Thank you! Such a coincidence you've lived so nearby.
Yes, Z3ta works also very well as a Vst insert. Especially if you put it on the master section in the Cubase mixer. This thing has been such a value for the money through the years (I bought it for 75 euro couple of years ago).
It's got such a full sound, mainly because there is such a cool effect section under the hood with every preset.
If I remember correctly you are using Cubase LE? It should appear there as a Vst insert. In its main section press the 'effects' button in the lower right corner. I use the first preset of the (default factory) C Bank, dirty hollow bass. Turned off the delay section and slightly adjusted the reverb section, also did some tiny eq adjustments.

Regards,
Rob

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Rob and Anne-Marie,

A very cohesive sound to the production. Everything fit together nicely - blended perfectly. Terrific vocals, as always. I like the differing sections of the song.

The video is entertaining, The effect with the store angel is exceptional (almost scary).

Enjoyed it.

Great imagery in the song and, literally,
in the video. 19 tracks? Sheeesh. It'd
take me a month to mix that and I'd never
get the sheen and sparkle of your mixes.

A very effective write for the fine vocals.

You guys are a cornucopia!

Much enjoyed it.

A big +1

Your vocals were top notch, as was the video!

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

Thank you Trevor!

This song took quite some time to finish. So did the video, which by the way was recorded by us.
DJ Grandad, featured in the video, placed it on his own Facebook. This gave us quite some views laugh !

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
