Greetings all.
Well here is my first upload,a semi jazzy pop track using Realtracks elec guitar for the solo and a nice Wurlitzer Elec Piano for the piano accompaniment and a harmonised Grand Piano for the melody.
Be interesting to see what the reaction is.
Jezza.

Hi Jezza.
Just saw the track appear on the Jasper page, pretty good attempt for a first go,I like the harmonised melody track, lots of bite there, the solo has a good thwack as well.Good effort there!

Hi Jezza.

First of all, welcome to the forum.

An interesting track and a great first post. I particularly liked the unusual bass line - it has the sort of phrasing which one would normally associate with a reggae track, but it still worked really well with the jazz/pop style.

The guitar solo took me by surprise. I think I was expecting something more mellow, but it worked out fine.

A good mix, overall, but if I was being picky the piano melody seemed a fraction loud. Otherwise, very professional.

Thanks for sharing.

ROG.

Welcome to the forum with a nice first effort. Good choices of instruments and a good arrangement. I agree the piano level was a bit loud in the mix listening through headphones. Enjoyed the listen and look forward to hearing from you again soon.

Welcome. Good first post. I like the chord progression. I agree the piano is too loud. I like the guitar but I'm not so sure about the sax near the end. I do like how you stopped and started the drums again. Keep em coming! Tom

Hi Jezza

welcome to the PGMusic forum and to the user showcase in particular!

I'm not quite sure how to comment on your song because it doesn't fit neatly into a genre for which I know the "rules"... But that's one of the things that makes BIAB so amazing: it doesn't confine us to genres! We can pick elements from any type of music and fuse them all into something that is uniquely our own!

Please elaborate a little about the making of this song... what were your thoughts and goals for the project? Hearing your thoughts will help people in the forum get to know you.

If you're having fun with BIAB, you'll fit right in here!

Again, welcome to the forum!

Jezza,

As the other guys say I too think the solo instruments are a little loud. But a good tune to introduce yourself.

Welcome to another Brit!!

Hi everyone.
Thanks for the opinions, yes in hindsight the melody is a tad too loud but otherwise i think its a reasonable track,i do like my stuff to be 'non conformist' to a certain degree.
I used Sonik Synth 2 for the accomp parts apart from the accomp piano which is Arturia's excellent Wurlitzer plug in,i am keen to try bridging the 64bit instruments as it is irritating that i cant use 64bit instruments in BB.

Thanks again for the input.

First off let's all aware that JeremyR is not unknown here -think Riccled and his bizarre sound files.
This is no better - I could have gone along with the meandering pointless piano until that ludicrous OD guitar break. Innovative I can live with, but that was stupid IMHO.
Play us something with a Melody, Riccled (Jasperflask)

I think it is a very interesting track! Lots of cool stuff. However, the melody EP is (as said) a bit loud and the tone is kind of harsh as well. Enjoyable music overall! Nice work. Greg

Once again i am appalled by the vindictive and ignorant comments by Sixchannel who just because my music and Jezza's are different he seems to think we can't write good tracks.
I was under the impression that people on this forum gave helpful and constructive criticism which 98% of the members seem to do,but i think his attitude and approach is totally detrimental to the friendly atmosphere in which predominately exists on this forum and will no doubt put off new writers from posting.

I shall consider and will discuss with Jezza if to continue with this forum if this is the kind of response we get to our work, the helpful and considerate comments by everyone else over Jezza and my work shows how it should be done.

Yours with great disappointment.
Ricc.

Riccled / Jezza
The thing about putting up "Music" to a Forum for evaluation and comment is that you should expect and get just that. If you only want good feedback for what you produce, go and annoy someplace else.
Its not an Emperors New Suit Of Clothes thing - this is pretentious untuneful rubbish, purposely done to show how Smart-A''d you are. I am allowed to say that as it is In My Own Opinion, just as those who have commented kindly have theirs.
This is a friendly site,(and I am a lovely person really) but I do get annoyed when something is clearly "not right" in the "Showcase" sense and is taking the Mickey out of the Forum.
I do hope that you and Jezza (one and the same person?) take your Bat and Ball home.
Yours with great anticipation
Ian

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
