The application I wrote a while back has been improved and made into a web app.

MusiCalc Online

It allows conversions of various kinds to help with musical workflows. Such things as Ticks-to-milliseconds, and back, as well as tempo/time changes.

As time goes by I'll be updating it with new routines/modules as they get requested.
I'll also add to this thread to help explain the useful purpose of the different existing modules.

Enjoy. It's unique and free!
If somebody with a design eye (and CSS abilities) wants to style it up, it would be appreciated. <grin>

Module 1: Tempo to ms
Some VSTs like PG Echo use milliseconds to set the delay time. This module helps to figure out how many mS are in a beat to help with the 'slapback' effect calculations.
Module 2: Ticks to mS
This module helps calculate how many ticks approximate a defined time span in mS (and accounts for resolution settings).
Module 3: Adjust Tempo for Time Signature
This module solves problems like the one mentioned in Noel's Tips/Tricks post here -

I like it Rharv.

I have a blackboard in my recording room filled with this stuff from a recent project which slipped back and forth between time signatures. Good stuff.

Glad some are finding it useful.
Like I said, I'm willing to expand it, just need ideas for more modules, and a little time to add them. I thought it useful enough to share as is .. and I think it's worth every penny ..

/I'll even double yer money back for trying it (free X 2!)
//my user name has been capitalized three times now in this thread, why?

rharv,

Cool site

For the guitarists that cover U2 songs or modern worship songs that ape the Edge/U2, a dotted 8th calculator for mS is handy.

Here's the formula:

dotted 8th mS = 45000/beats per minute

eg. 95 beats per minute, set your delay mS to 45000/95 = 474 mS

I had several patched programmed in a Digitech RP500 for different tempos, but then I bought a Zoom G5 which has note value multipliers built in if you select them.

For those wanting to do that classic Edge sound, set feedback for 1 repeat, and pick away!

New module added to music calculator:
Since RB uses 'Tempo %' change to stretch audio in the Time Stretch/Pitch Shift feature, I made a module that will figure the tempo % difference for two given time spans.
It also tells the percentage as a number for manual entry, and is also shows the time difference in milliseconds for those who may need that.

Basically a module for 'how much do I stretch A to fit in slot B'.

Other few modules:
Quote:
Module 1: Tempo to ms
Some VSTs like PG Echo use milliseconds to set the delay time. This module helps to figure out how many mS are in a beat to help with the 'slapback' effect calculations.
Module 2: Ticks to mS
This module helps calculate how many ticks approximate a defined time span in mS (and accounts for resolution settings).
Module 3: Adjust Tempo for Time Signature

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
