Hi,

BTW. Love this program and the support.

I tried the Audio Chord Wizard. It works fine. When I try to send the song to BIAB, the ACW quits but nothing happens. It doesn't matter if I have BIAB running or not.

I'm running everything off of the external hard drive EverythingPAK (awesome idea).

Hi jauen,

Please make sure that you have the latest build (#5) installed. I'm running BIAB/Audio Chord Wizard from the external Everything Pack drive and I am able to send chords to BIAB with no problem.

Hi Ron,

I did install the build 5 upgrade hoping that was the problem but I get the same result.

When I hit the "Send to BIAB" button a window flashes up for 1/2 second (too fast for me to read), then the program quits and nothing else happens.

That's what is supposed to happen. ACW is supposed to disappear. And then you should see the BB screen, and there should be a message saying to press OK when you want to load the Song into BB. You may have dismissed that dialog by mistake prior to running BB, or something else is happening.
In any event, you can just run BB, and choose [menu] Windows - Read chord from ACW. This reads the chords, which will stick around.

Hi Peter,

I've got the same problem here. A flash and nothing happens. When I load BB before and then analyze the song BB comes foreward and shows just a blank screen with none of the analyzed chords.

Had the same problem ... try this (I'm on an iMac, build4):

• Open BIAB
• Click ACW-Icon
• "File Chooser Window" opens - choose audio-file
• Analyze file in ACW - when you're ready, press "OK - Send to BIAB"
• ACW quits automatically (which I don't like, read below)
• In BIAB, press "Yes" in the "Answer Question" window (which automatically opened in the background)
• Now chords should appear in BIAB

I initially had the same problem - opened ACW, analyzed the file, pressed "OK - Send to BIAB" and - ACW quits w/o a message ! I thought it crashed - until I incidentally opened ACW from BIAB and I noticed the "Answer Question" - window. Can't remember that I read anything about opening BIAB first !

BTW, Peter, why does ACW quit after pressing "OK - Send to BIAB" ?? - I would like to check ACW's analysis further (eg. single notes) after having sent the chords to BIAB and refining the chord changes ....

Right, if you run AudioChordWizard without running Band-in-a-Box, then you would need to do the following:
1. Press OK- send to Band-in-a-Box in AudioChordWizard.
2. Run Band-in-a-Box, and choose menu item [Windows- Read Chords from Audio Chord Wizard]
================================================================================================

If you run AudioChordWizard from within Band-in-a-Box (by pressing the AudioChordWizard), when you return to Band-in-a-Box there will be a dialog where answering YES will do the same thing as menu item [Windows- Read Chords from Audio Chord Wizard

Rob, good suggestion about not always closing ACW after sending to BB, the program could ask you about that.

Also, for the next build, if you have run ACW standalone (without BB running), and pressed the "Send to BB" button, then the next time you run BB, it will offer to import those chords.

I got the Audio Chord Wizard to send to BIAB but, I'm sorry to say that ACW does not work. to learn how to use it, I up loaded a mp3 of a simple blues recording that has only three Chords and what I got wasn't anything like the song. disappointing.

You **shouldn't** try a simple song with 3 chords. Try a pop or country song, with more than 3 chords. results will be much better.
You should make sure that the bar lines are correct for the song, you do that by clicking the "Tap Bar line button" as the song is playing or just using the ENTER key. If the bar lines are correct, and you are using a genre like pop or country, the results should be very good.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
