8 weeks from now I expect that BIAB 2015 will drop down our virtual chimneys. Mine anyway grin
I'm already wondering what new Goodies it will have, how many new RTs there will be and will they be useful to me, how much attention PG will have paid to the Wish list section, and how much of it will never get used. (I'm thinking Fretlight here), and whether RB will become user friendly - lol!
Santa, here I am!! grin whistle

Edit - question marks added. Lol!

sixchannel,

Your posting title made my heart skip a couple of beats.
I'd make a guess Dec 5th or 6th.

Hi Ian

PGM added Fretlight support of some sort in Version 2014 Build 385 (Sept 25, 2014)

There's information on the Support Page

There's also a video tutorial

Has Santa come early, or was your thinking that Fretlight will never get used?

Hi Trevor
No it hasn't come early. I wish!
The comment about Fretlight was personal whimsy on why PG should have ever have thought it worthy of inclusion - and EVERYONE including pianists, horn players, etc paying for it. Every time I see the video tute it reminds me of an April 1st Spoof. If it looks like a joke, its a joke. Right? How many Fretlight guitars are there out there that would make it important to load BIAB with it?
Hi Frank - sorry to scare you. Maybe I should have put a Question mark in the title. I have now. smile

I was wondering how long before someone started this thread. Happens every year. I was curious as to when PG Music might announce the 2015 version so I checked the release date last year. They announced on November 30 so you have about 4 weeks to go. No doubt this thread will expand and expound on what could be, what should be and what will be but it's all just speculation.

4 weeks isn't that long to wait unless of course PG Music skips the 2015 release. They did after all skip the .5 version so you never know. After all these years of development and 50 new features on every release perhaps there is not much more than they can add without a major rewrite to 64 bit. I'm sure there will be some tweaks and new real tracks/Super midi tracks but what fancy features could we hope for? More real drum control maybe? Guess we will know in 4 weeks...........

Yeeha!
The yearly update-speculation-thread is back!

For me it would be good enough to have more RT´s. But you never know. Maybe there is a new feature in BiaB 2015, I missed my whole life (without even knowing)...

I'll settle for just fixing what we have; getting UserTracks to work right, user manual for 2014 RealBand, etc.

Really, maybe it's time to slowdown with adding new features and make what we have more stable and consistent. Look through the forum postings and you'll see there has been a goodly number of inconsistencies noted, multiple unresolved support issues.

I feel confident that sometime in the future there will be made from scratch, completely new from the ground up, 64 bit versions of BiaB and RealBand. I think its more a question of when, not if. The trouble is, new software will come complete with a new set of issues that will require a lot of attention to identify and resolve. The new kid on the block always gets more attention. Meanwhile, the current 32 bit based software, and all the existing known issues, will not receive the attention needed.

So I say, we know its coming and we know it's just a matter of time so why not essentially suspend adding features to the 32 bit softwares and concentrate on making them the most stable and error free 32 bit versions possible.

A whopping, ginormous humungous YES to that JimFogle.

It is so tedious working in a 32 bit environment. BB is the only 32 bit software on my system, though I need it and appreciate it.

Please ...... come the day when we may all be able to work with 64 bit BB and RB.

+++++++'s

I am hoping that there is something new for notation. We've been stuck with the current print function for YEARS. It definitely needs an overhaul, or better an interface to an existing print program. Don't waste time trying to fix the old. You haven't been able to do it so far, so think of working with a partner (say Finale, since you endorse it on the website) and get us into the 21st century

I will probably upgrade this year (I have 2014 ultrapaK) but only if its the same upgrade price for download of $99, don't need any hard drives with the higher price and taxes to deliver to UK, money is tight here at the moment.

I can see a few features added such as ability to move large mixer and add/remove buttons, probably a few extra notation features and the 101 realtracks.

I don't really expect any 64 bit for those that want it, I am on 32 bit windows myself. I think that PGmusic is a small company, the people that have been coding the software have been doing so for years, and it would be a massive and highly expensive job to bring everything up to 64 bit.

But hey I would think that most of us are happy enough with the 32 bit biab anyways.

Just my thoughts.

Musiclover,

I agree. Even when 64 bit is available I most likely won't need it as my operating system is 32 bit. That's why I'd dearly love to have as many issues resolved in the current softwares as possible.

Every year I think "What more can PG add?"
But they never fail to impress.
I'm thinking that if a new version will be released the beta testers will be working hard at the moment.

I wonder if Mac is involved, seeing he is having a break from BIAB.

Cheers,
Keith

I'm sure he is, as well as the other big M namely Matt, probably John (Jford) and personally I would hope Noel as well, that guy can sure iron out problems with biab, Maybe even Rharv he will always get the blame if any bugs go undiscovered smile

But always remember don't ask these guys anything about if when or where about beta testing.

Its a Top-Secret job and no comment is the order of the day.

Like everyone else I'm looking forward to biab 2015 release.

I've heard references to beta testing can cause a post to be removed, so I dunno nothing.

That said, my sources tell me the scheduled 'announce' day is the second Tuesday of next week. Beta Testers will be invited the second Tuesday of the same week the month prior. All this is conjecture of course.

/the above was meant to be comedy, cause like I said, I don't know nothing

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
