Greg,

That song had that Greg Johnson vibe laugh

I cannot fault anything about that, the solo was rockin', the vocals , the harmonies.

"Love gives you the groovies" haha brilliant, I remember getting them *blush* LOL

lovely ending!!! Please shake Bill's hand for me, that solo!
Every song gets better!
Marvelous

I must have heard this much differently than everyone else... I'm hearing Bryan Adams/ Journey 80s rock.. with a touch of U2 at places... and influences of contemporary Christian music. In fact this song would fit perfectly in the CC genre with no change to the music and minimal change to the lyrics.

I especially liked the mid-verse rhyming scheme.. that's something that doesn't show up here on the showcase very often. (I'm glad I got to post before Noel, because that's the sort of thing he would have noticed. bwa-hahaha! for the first time EVER I beat Noel to the punch!)

Anyway, Greg... your voice is highly commercial. One of the things that often makes amateur song writing noticeably different from commercial music is the quality of the vocals... but your voice compares favorably with anybody I've ever heard in genres that are like your songs.

And you have a real knack for fitting the elements of style into an appealing composition. I say that because not all songs that "work" are also appealing... but your songs consistently have real appeal.. the sort of thing that translates into "hits" in a commercial sense.

I really liked the distinct snare hits on the 2 and 4 beats, especially during the guitar solos. That's part of what gives the song an 80s feel... Journey did that a lot

Hey! Two enthusiastic thumbs up from me! (and I'm leaning back in the chair trying get a couple of toes up too!)

Hi Greg,

a very nice song. Great vocals and harmonies. And the lead guitar really shines. Your sun is lucky to have such a good guitar teacher. Great production all over.

Thanks Alyn! Much appreciate the kind words and always looking forward to your next post. Since you mentioned the ending, it's fortuitous that it worked. I had planned on fading on the 4 chord progression and didn't realize it went back into something else (did a copy and paste figuring that I'd fade on the 4 chord thing). When I got Bill's solo back, it was just a "WOW, that works" thing. He's a great player and a cool guy-takes a lot of pride in doing his best. Thanks for the kind words, and keep posting! Take care. Thanks Pat! I love the thought you put into each and every post. You are really paying attention. I honestly had no awareness of the drum emphasis-I just used the kit that "the band" played, but I knew I liked it (not too sterile, not too fancy). When I was mixing it, I did hear some kind of 80's vibe in it-not until then. It's interesting the way different people hear. I always focus first and foremost on the vocal delivery (texture, emotion, emphasis) and on the lyrics. I have a good friend who owns our local music store. He hears cool bass/drum parts, etc. There are some songs that I love that he can't hear much in and vice versa. We all, to some extent live in our own universe I guess. Thanks so much for your kind words and your thoughtful replies to pretty much all songs. Great to have you here! Take care. Greg

BTW, I felt flattered to have you copy my comments on Tommy's song. I thought to myself "I must be on to something if Pat is quoting me"

THanks Guenter! Yes, my son has quite a fine teacher. I call him the guitar whisperer. He says things to my son during lessons that I would think were total nonsense, but then----it makes my son play better. My son could be a great musician. I hope he sticks with it. Thanks for all you support and generous comments on all of my songs! Take care. Greg

Thanks so much Dani!! You are truly Mr. positive. I really believe you are an inspiration to everyone on this forum. You consistently provide wonderful feedback, and songs in a variety of style which are different but at the same time, all you! I still hear a lot of Bacharach in your music, and I will never tire of it! Thanks again my friend for your support and for being you! Take care. Greg

The Beatles, The Byrds, and Michael Bloomfield meet Billy Preston at Apple Records!

This was fantastic from the first note to the last! What else can I say!

This is a pro sounding recording.

Greg,
This song has such a nice open feel to it. Well done. It really like the rolling panning on the 12-string. That's how love is supposed to feel... joyful!

Thanks for the kind words Mario. Means a lot to me! I really liked your new one-quite a contrast to your other recent posts but just as great. Love it when your students don't show up! Take care. Greg

Thanks SD. Yeah, it was the vibe of "the band" that really got this song going-that 12 string electric is magical. Always enjoy your song posts. Can't wait for the next one! Take care. Greg

Wow Greg, one doesn't have to be a Beatles fan (although I am)to like this one. Great production and vocals; killer guitar indeed. Thanks

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
